Having trouble getting to a rolling boil with a Blichmann 15 gallon Boil Coil installed in a 15 gallon brew pot I purchased for AIH. I am trying to boil only 6.5 gallons and can achieve a boil with the cover on but when I remove it I drop to about 200 degrees and obviously the boiling stops. Has anyone else had an issue and is it possible there is not enough Wort to hold the heat in my kettle. Any help is appreciated

I have a 15 gal BoilCoil (240v) controlled by a cheap Chinese 10kw motor speed controller. With 8 gallons in the 15 gal kettle, I have to cut back to around 60% power to avoid boil over. So, yeah, get a meter and find out what's going wrong.

Thanks gents. I was at work earlier and all could verify was I was powering with 240....I thought. After getting home I discovered one leg was dead. The electrician wired the GFI wrong and after correcting that I am off and running. I really appreciate the help. Cheers!!
