I’m planning on using my 15g Megapot 1.2 as a HLT, I’ve already purchased a blichmann HERMS coil and whirlpool kit and now I’m ready to make the move to electric. I would like to use a Blichmann Boil Coil and Brew Commander for tight temp control in my MLT. Has anyone used a boil coil with a Megapot 1.2? Just wondering if the dip tube or male npt portion of the bulkhead gets in the way?

The boil coil is pretty expensive for an HLT heater as the really really low watt density of those coils is nice for a boil kettle. The other thing I don't particularly like is just how much vertical space is required such that it pushes the herms coil bottom port up higher than a typical a typical ripple element. A ripple can also give you the full 5500 watts available given the 30amp circuit capacity. The one thing it DOES do better is the install is easier for a typical mid-level handyperson.
