Buying my first kegs with the intention of building a kegerator or keezer in the future. Since I'm not already committed to a particular size yet, which would you recommend I get?

I would go 5 gallon standard, but I would buy after I have the kegerator or keezer figured out.

I can see your point but I'm not against buying a frig or freezer based on the keg size either. Most of the comments I've read regarding the standard Torpedo is people wish it was narrower and that they can't fit as many in their respective dispenser of choice where as they can the slimline. What makes you lean towards the standard?

The slim keg is needed for small freezers for space on the floor but if you start with the regular keg the hope is that you go up in freezer size and then you dont need as tall of a collar on it. Lifting a keg of beer is stress enough without having to clear a extra 8 inch collar. If you go the fridge route then the slim keg makes sense because of the limited floor space.:mug: This Kristal said to choose the freezer or fridge first.

I have a 5.1 cu. chest freezer. I initially bought the regular size and I can only get three in there. I have since moved over to the slimline and it works for me to get 4 kegs in there now.

I'd start slim and just enjoy the extra space at any route you choose with the cooler.
