Top Freezer Fermentation Fridge

So I just started taking apart my old fridge with the intention of removing the ceiling of the fridge / floor of the freezer and found the coils. Does this mean I should just leave it a lone and only use the fridge portion?

My ebay aquarium controller is in the mail!
