Hey everyone, I'm a home brewing noob and this is my first post (although been doing a lot of reading - this site has a lot of great information). Ive been wondering, is there any penalty for pouring the trub in the fermenter instead of throwing it out? Thanks.

You get 5 minutes in the penalty box for transferring trub to the primary.

Lots of people pour from the brew kettle to the primary. It's more an issue for beer clarity than for flavor.

I'm with Beernik on this one. Although, I've never had too much trouble with clarity since I started using whirlfloc. I (mistakenly) added it to a hefe that came out of the bottle Krystal clear.

I just agitated the yeast in the bottom of the bottle to make it come back into suspension. In retrospect, that's how franziskaner comes in the bottle for me too. So I felt pretty ok about it.
