Tipping for a keg fill

I filled a 5 gal corny keg at the local cider house for my wife to have on draft in the keezer. It was $85 to fill. It was kind of awkward as they use an ipad with square to accept credit card payment and it defaults to 15% tip. I was not about to to pay an extra $12.75 for the nice girl at the tasting room to pass over the keg and I left a $1 tip.

What is customary to leave for a tip on a keg fill? Can anyone else please share what you do in this situation?

I hate tipping! I only tip at restaurants and barber shops. I wish the whole idea would disappear. Restaurants should pay their employees properly and charge a little more and take the hassle away from the customers.

I am normally a generous tipper but after $85 to fill a five gallon keg I am not sure a tip is in order, unless they went out of their way to do it for you. (like if they do not normally fill kegs but made an exception just for you)

I usually tip well and don't mind tipping a bit. I just thought this was an awkward situation, one I hadn't come across and don't know what's customary. I usually tip 20% at restaurants and tip at least $1/drink ordered at bars. The $1 tip was using that same logic. Basically she was handing over one BIG 5 gal drink and did no more work than if she were pouring me a beer, so $1 seemed justified.

Go to costco, get 5 gallons of tree top and a pack of cider yeast from your HBS. Not as good as fresh pressed cider if you can get it but a lot better than 85 bucks

My tipping schedule is the same. Rarely do I tip less unless the service is extraordinarily bad. Had a waitress one time that was snooty throughout the meal then handed me the bill and in a snotty tone of voice told me that they already added 15% for a tip. Normally I would have let it go but she was too much, I then told her she just screwed herself outta five percent because I normally tip 20%. The manager made the mistake of asking me how everything was on the way out. I was not happy so I told him.

Keg fills aren't what that ipad app was designed for. It's for paninis, biscottis, espressos, and individual drinks that are brought to you at a table for immediate consumption. Not product buys.
