Time warner, phone, tv, internet

I'm paying way to much for phone, Internet and cable. I'm looking for any opinions who should I go with? I have been looking at magicjack plus or vonage for phone but I dont know if either of those are any good/reputable. I have also been looking at fios. Any opinions are appreciated

VONAGE hands down, been using them with multiple lines and fax for 6+ years. As for MagicJack it's OK, but you have to pay more for the stand alone unit otherwise it relies on your pc (doesn't support linux, lame) to be on and connected to the internet.

Fios is overpriced.

Exactly. Also streaming, torrenting, and regular ol' download from storage sites (search for your favorite shows on filestube.com)

Agreed. We haven't had a phone that didn't fit in a pocket in about 10 years now. Once we were off dial up internet, that sucker was cancelled. If you own a cell phone, you don't need a landline. Period.

I own a cell phone, but I still need a landline. As a bail bondsman (among other things) I need the ability to have isolated phone numbers that can be direct, forwarded, or sent to voicemail to many different numbers at any given time without tying up my cell phone or needing to carry 2-3 cell phones. This also keeps my cell phone number private, which is an absolute must in my line of work.

There's no better way then Vonage for this.

It really depends on where you live and the type of service that is available to you. I can't get internet through cable, so I have to have DSL. My provider requires me to have a land line. I have/had Vonage, MagicJack, Time Warner, Directv. When I started out, Vonage was $14.99/mo, it's about $27.00/mo. now. In a metropolitan area, it worked fine. I live more in a rural area now and run a business, and any phone system that I call into that has a computerized system, there is about a 70% chance that the connection will be bad. If you have any issues with your provider, you will have trouble with the reception. MagicJack has issues with the volume. If you google complaints, you'll see them. I will buy a fuc$ing ViewMaster before I give Time Warner a nickle. Unfortunately, the place where my desk is located will not get phone reception, so I can't use my cell phone. Having said all of that, my telephone (DSL) provider sells long distance just like the cel phone companies, so much per minute. So, I will give up Vonage (already gave up MagicJack and Google phone) use the long distance for when I'm working at my deskfor phones and Fax, and my cel the rest of the time. I've done a lot of research, and depending on your use, even if Vonage works, make sure you understand what your rate will be after the come on. - Dwain

Also many of us live in the sticks and dont always have a signal.

I have fios internet and cable. It's very fast and rarely have problems, although recently the DVR has been acting up. Honestly we would probably go with a cheaper option but our HOA limits us to fios or dish. No other providers are allowed in the neighborhood for cable.

Yes, I chased the volume problem using as many of the help boards as I could. All I ended up doing was making the minimum I can turn down the volume to is about 1/3. I'm still working on reversing that.

By the way, I checked into adding a cel phone line to my plan ($10/mo.) and keeping my business number and doubling my minutes on the cel phone. (I would have to buy a box for $25 to plug my "land line" phone into, a one time fee). I didn't follow up to see how I could fax, because by the time I add a line, and doubled my minutes ($125 for a signal booster, one time fee), and included taxes, I would be in an additional $28/mo. Ironically, this is what it would cost me to go unlimited long distance with my "land line" provider. So, the answer for me is:
Keep my cel phone plan as is: $121/mo with taxes
Keep DirecTv: $81.30/mo.
Increase my land line long distance: $111.30/mo. including mid speed dsl, taxes
Losing/changing my business number

BTW, internet over satellite internet here is slower than dsl. Talking about this has depressed me, I'm going to get a beer!

Dwain I hope that price for your cell phone is for more than one. I pay around 80 for unlimited everything from Sprint. Including 4G. Without the 4G I'm under 70.
