Is it safe to use a threaded used wine bottle with a new cork?

The threaded area looks a bit thin, but only at the threads, the cork applies pressure over most of its length.

The bottle is a CK Mondavi Zin, and I didn't expect a screw top!

Some people seem to use them but, no, they aren't safe and you're right - the necks are thin and they tend to break during corking. Why risk a severed vein?

They do sell screw caps for wine bottles, but there does not appear to be a common standard. I bought screwtop bottles and caps from an HBS but the caps have not fit any of the screw top bottles I have tried it on.
