ok...so I have been bottling my brews for the last year...recently, well..today I bottled my first of founders bottles that I have been saving, I think Sierra Navada uses the same style....anyway my question , has anybody had any problem using those bottles?...mine went on kinda hard and I couldent seem to get that lil crescent dent in the top....I just dident feel right about using them......anybody?.....thankx ...Tom

I haven't used Founders yet, but like you said I think they're the same as Sierra Nevada's (shorter and fatter than standard) which I've used quite a few of. Never had any problems! If you turn it upside down and the beer doesn't pour out, you should be ok.

Unless there's something real different about Founder's bottles. I've already got like 300 bottles in my homebrew rotation so I've been recycling all the Founder's ones I've gotten lately.

Its the height of the ring on the neck of the bottle where your wing capper grabs it. Some are higher on the bottle and wont allow some cappers to crimp the cap fully. I had this problem before switching to a bench capper with those type bottles.

If you don't feel as if your caps are sealed, you can unscrew the bell from your capper and hammer it on to the caps with a rubber mallet to crimp them a little bit more. I had a case of beer in Corona bottles and ended up doing this to save the day.

Before I started kegging it's all I used because I could fit them in the top shelf of my dishwasher easier. I used a regular wing capper with no issues.

I have had that problem with Anchor Steam bottles. I just put a nickel on top of the cap and used a wing capper. Worked like a charm.
