This guy's brew panel seems off.

I've been following this guy's guide and when I went to buy parts I noticed there was no control transformer in the build. Worse yet, the contactors he used are only rated for 120vac. Without stepdown voltage, isn't that just going to damage the coils? There would probably be an arc when switches are used. He then use wood to build an enclosure!

Am I missing something here??
 
Nevermind, I figured it out. He used 120vac by powering it with 1 line using neutral; keyswitch to hot 1 and coil, neutral to coil

He modifies the PID to remove the 120VAC relay and drives the SSRs directly with 12VDC.
