I have brewed four extract batches so far, only drin king one now though. The others are still fermenting/conditioning.I know I'm going to brw at least once a week and want to cut my cost down.Is it really that much cheaper? How long will malt last in storage?I would like to buy in bulk but would hate to have any go to waste.

Even without buying in bulk, it should be cheaper. I pay $1.29/lb of base malt vs $11 a can of extract, or $3.50/lb of DME. For an average beer that would be:

2 cans of LME = $22
6lbs of DME = $21
or
10lbs base malt = $12.90

of course if you buy in bulk it will only get cheaper.
