I was in mini cubeville for a little bit. That was right between retail and plant work. I work 12 hr shifts with 4 other guys now. If one's being stupid, I can usually put the old ear phones in and tune him out. Unless it's days, then there's too many day drones trying to justify their job to tune them all out.
Not only do I use the speaker phone, I use the direct connect on the cell phone and talk to one or two other people in the room, all separate conversations, at the same time, while playing music too loud. It's a madhouse some days.

and by speaker phone I mean Skype because I don't have a phone jack in my home office, I'm NOT paying $90 to have one installed and I hate using a headset.
my coworker hasn't complained.

I have started changing the clock on the microwave in the lunch room. Every day I set it 1 minute later. There is a stove in there as well. I set it 1 minute earlier.

I have an office. I used to close my door, but when I did all the employees would freak out because they assumed something big was going on - like layoffs. Now I leave the door open 99% of the time.
It's a PC world we live in.
There is that side of the coin, too. My boss is one of the VP's of the company, so he handles a lot of business that doesn't need to be overheard - like the merger we went through two years ago; for a good year leading up to it, his door was closed almost as much as it was open.
Now, the merger has gone through, and some of the 'changes' haven't exactly been good - half of our original staff let go, etc. so sometimes when that door gets closed, there is an element of "oh crap..."

There is one particular person in the office who disapproves of my rather cluttered (to her eyes) workspace.
The numerous objects surrounding me are not clutter - they are tools and supplies, ready at a moments notice.
At a moment's notice, for my use, and the use of those around me...like the co-worker, who disapproves of the "clutter", but needs something from my area at least twice a week...

I'm a bit of a hoarder. not as bad as those you see on the TV show, but if it weren't for my wife, I would be.

The fact that they simply show up! and through-out the day make weird cat sounds (purring and squawking) and talk to themselves in a passive aggressive manner looking for someone else to get sick of listening and just do their freaking job. Go home...we got it, you're nuckin futz.

Anytime the moron near me opens his mouth it annoys me. He BLESSES HIMSELF at a loud holler each and every time he sneezes.
Launch one of those from your toes sneezes, the kind that make your arms numb, in his cube in passing....and "oh bless me" and keep walkin..
My same cat sound lady "Crap dusts" the office, my term for walking about farting, saying.....oh excuse me, oh excuse me, oh my, oh what have you done...then returns to her own desk so she doesn't have to sit in her own funk., but rather spread the joy...that's nasty....but my cue to go for a smoke....and I don't smoke.

With some of the folks I've worked with in the past we'd all walk by her cube and fart every time we had to until she got the point and stopped that. If it didn't work we'd start rolling those little stink bomb things into her cube.
Hilarious to find this thread today. It's November 15th and they started playing christmas music at work already!?!? The majority of coworkers agree it's way too early, but the boss' wife and daughter-in-law want it on so guess who wins there? We did come to an agreement, Christmas music every other day?!?!?! From now until Christmas!?!?!? Someone is seriously gonna get punched in the throat if I have to listen to the same Christmas songs over and over again for the next month and a half.

Yeah, but I guess my point is maybe the majority should have a say what music is played . The minority should listen to Christmas music through headphones. But really, there should be a law. No Christmas music until Black Friday. I think that's more than fair.
December 24th and 25th. Those are good days for Christmas music.
And on December 26th, we return to our regularly scheduled programming.

Had a boss once that was a good guy to work for - knew his stuff, backed up his employees with higher-ups, etc - but had the manners of a goat. You'd be in his office talking to him about something and he'd roll up on one cheek and let one rip - and I swear to dog something died up there 'cause the stench would peel paint.
And did I mention that he picked his nose? Constantly? He came over to my desk once when I was eating lunch - a few of us had ordered pizza that day. He saw the slice I hadn't gotten to yet and proceeded to whip out his pocket knife and cut a portion of the slice off and eat it without so much as a "Mind if I have a bite?"...and without washing his hands from his last nasal mining expedition. I told him to take the rest of the slice because I was full. <shudder>
