My kegs FINALLY showed up! I have 4 Pepsi style kegs now. You'd think that in the 45 days it took for them to arrive, I'd have gotten the rest of the stuff I need. Surprisingly, I didn't. Looks like I need to find a CO2 tank and figure out what I'm going to do about a cooling system. I'm thinking that the garage should work for now.

What do I need now for a faucet system? Can anyone make a recommendation?

45 days? Did you order these off of Ebay? I only ask because I'm looking for some kegs soon too and wonder if I should look to Ebay or morebeer.

eBay. The guy slacked off on a bunch of us. I paid for them on 9/13 and they showed up today.

OH well, they're here and they were a total of under $80.

I bought my tower with two faucets from this guy on ebay....I got a 2-tower faucet for $150 plus $50 shipping. Plus, it came with the nice adjustable flow faucets. The quality is very good - I'd say it's worth two or three times what I paid for it.

It looks like now he just has single-faucet towers, but a few of them he offers the option to switch to a dual faucet. It's still several hundred dollars cheaper than any other ceramic tower I've ever seen.

It's worth keeping an eye on what he has for sale - I bet sooner or later he'll have something. Looks like he doesn't have the flow control faucets anymore either - that's too bad. I've thought about getting some Perlicks because they won't stick, but the flow controls are awesome - I can crank my CO2 way up for a Belgian or way down for an English Brown, and never need to rebalance my lines.

I don't think anyone is cheaper that Micromatic. They're fast too. The only thing they don't have is the ball lock fittings. I'd suggest going with the 3/16th beer line and the 5/16th gas line. The quick disconnects are nice to have too

Definitely 3/16 beer line. Cuts down on the foaming.

If you need fittings, Morebeer was about the cheapest place that I could find.

Also, I'd go for a 20lb CO2 bottle. It's a little more to buy, but it only costs a couple more bucks to fill than a 5 or 10, and it lasts a lot longer.

grats dude. I have a regulator if you want it. Its a standard dual guage, single output. Make me an offer if you're interested. As for the faucets....I got Perlicks, and love them. But thats a whole other debate for a diferent thread.

Keep your eyes on the local classifieds. You can find an old fridge for 50 bucks or so pretty regularly.

Pretty clean. I need to reclean them though, as they still smell like Pepsi. They're in good condition - no dents. I learned the lesson about unscrewing the poppet thingy. I think I freaked out everyone in my house when the gas released. Even Bubb Rubb would be impressed. They was like WOOOOHOOOOOOOSH!!!

Wow. May need to check that out myself. I'd be a little weary of the "delay" that you had to go through. Obviously this guy ain't in no hurry. I just paid about 200 bucks for two kegs, dual regulator, tap, lines, 10 LBS CO2 tank. All in all, I'd say it's a pretty decent price, all things considered, but I would definently want some more kegs. I even called the local Pepsi warehouse yesterday, and they said that they are totally out of kegs, they are all now using the bag in box method. He said that Pepsi pretty much got away with kegs about 2 years ago. Someone must have bought them all out.
Anyway, I'd sure like to have a total of 4 kegs. I think your thinking what I'm thinking.......

Four kegs for $80, sounds like that superlarry guy (if they are single handle), I think he also had regular dual handle kegs for $100 shipped. I admit this was tempting except for his lack of concern in timely shipment.

Something else to think about, I suppose the wait won't seem too bad if you're prepared for it.

Guys name was thesignman. Said he had some problems with his supplier, then blamed it on personal issues, etc. I sympathize about personal problems, but close shop if you need to, don't p!ss off customers. Whatever. They're dual-handled and in decent shape. I need to get some PBW and possibly some replacement parts to get the soda smell out.

PBW works great. The hotter the water the better. I even picked up a pick up tube brush to get all the soda out of the tube. Your carboy brush works fantastic in a corny also. Then once its scrubbed out, pressurize the corny and push the PBW and then the sanitizer up and out your faucet.

Also a rebuild o-ring kit is like 2 bucks or something over at B3

Where's B3? Midwest kits are 3.95...

Congrats!!

I'd recommend going with Perlick forward seal faucets--that's what I ended up going with. the beer doesn't sit up in the mechanism, so they don't gum up as easy.

You could always just go with cobra taps for the time being if money is an issue.

I give 'em a good rinse followed by scrubbing with regular dishwashing detergent to get the funk out. A 20 minute soak in Star San seems to rid them of any persistent smell/stains. The mild acid solution is probably a more "gentle" version of the acid wash advertised by HBS sites.

I had real good luck with this seller (wyleecoyote88). Friendly, fast, and 100% rating, nice, quality, cleaned kegs.

That's a deal, considering I could just go and pick 'em up in Irving and not have to pay for shipping. $105 plus tax and a couple of gallons of gas for six kegs... But, I don't have any space to put a kegerator right now. I'll be sticking with bottles for a while yet.

you can never have too many. Im up to 7 now, and once I get my 10 gallon setup up and going, I may even pick up more.

That's solid advise - and I should know since I went with standard taps. You'll end up wanting to replace them within a month - may as well buy the good ones right off the bat. They're not that much more money.

OK, I need a (no pun intended) primer on kegging. I have 4 kegs and two gray ball locks. I know I need a CO2 tank, a regulator, and other stuff. I plan on filling all 4 kegs VERY soon, and would like to be able to drink from all of them. I'm not going to convert a fridge right away because I'm lucky enough to live in an area where it's already cold enough to keep a keg cool, and these will be stored in my garage where the coldest it gets is just above freezing.

Can someone be so kind as to give me a shopping list? I'd like to order tonight or tomorrow.

Check around, CO2 tanks you may be able to rent out. Scan the yellow pages under wielding or fire equipment. All your kegs will need a ball lock for gas in and another ball lock with a tapered fitting for product out. Most will use a 3/16 line for dispensing and 1/4 inch line for CO2. You'll probably need to get a cobra picnic tap line for dispensing. One thing to keep in mind, temperature will vary if left outside based on ambient conditions. I've heard some say that sometimes it will effect the brew.

I bought my stuff from this guy on eBay. This stuff is just one example of a kit he offers.

He makes custom kits if you ask him. I talked with him on the phone a couple times and he's pretty knowledgeable about kegging. Look into the upgrades he offers, too. I uppgraded to a 10 pound CO2 tank. My 10lb aluminum tank cost a few bucks more through him than a 5lb steel one would have run me at the local welding shops. Send him an email and see what price he comes up with for what you need. I saved about 20% going through him vs. the big online brew shops.
