I was just given a Thermostar Temp Controller, the one sold by Northern Brewer. I'm looking forward to playing around with it and plan to use it with a fermwrap or mat. I think I'd like to use a thermowell rather than the long probe sold by Northern Brewer, but am having trouble finding a thermowell and carboy plug (glass carboy) that I'm sure will work. Has anyone sorted this out?

I have had only mediocre results with taping the probe to the outside of the carboy, but if you read down the forum a little, others have had good results that way.

For my thermowell I use http://www.ontariobeerkegs.com/Stopper_Thermowell_p/stopper-thermowell.htm I am sure you can find similar items around online shops if you're not in Canada.

The stopper looked a little rough and there was residue glue on the stopper where the SS piece was glued in. I cleaned it really well, though, and seems to be fine.

Thanks Jim. That helped. I was able to find something similar here in the U S
