Thermoplastic tubes and hose barbs

I'm going to use stainless steel 1/2 inch hose barbs in my set up with a plate chiller and march pump. Will thermoplastic hose easily slide on and off the barb for set up and take down? Would silicone be easier? I'm planning on hose clamps for tight connections. Thanks.

Have you considered getting quick disconnects for your setup? I think that over time, constant slipping on and off a barb would eventually stretch the tubing.
