So this FIB and his family is going to the Dells Sunday, and I have a question about Showboat Saloon. Do they fill any growlers and what do they charge compared to the draft price?

While checking the CW facebook page for any Exodus/BA Cherry news, saw they posted this upcoming taplist at Guu's on Main in Steven's Point for those nearby:

"And here it is, what should be our final lineup for this weekend's tap takeover at Guu's on Main, starts this Saturday, April 5th at 6 PM!

1. Honey Blonde
2. Shine On
3. Niropuppy
4. Glacial Trail IPA
5. Satin Solitude Imperial Stout
6. *New* Hop Rise Nitro!
7. Ouisconsing Red Ale
8. *New Spring Seasonal* Lac Du Bay IPA
9. Exodus!
10. Bourbon Barrel Stout
11. Bourbon Barrel Barleywine
12. *Experimental Release* Imperial Chocolate Oatmeal Porter aged in Bourbon barrels
13. *Experimental Release* Imperial Red with orange peels and cherries aged in brandy barrels.

As if that isn't enough, beginning at 7 PM we will be tapping
14. Bourbon Cherry Stout
15. Anniversary Edition 16!

Wowza. See ya Saturday."

I hope they have those experimental releases next time I'm up at the taproom.

Cheddar Curtain lovin' FIB needs some help!
It looks like I'll be in Madison for work in two weeks, most likely on a Thursday and Friday. Can someone give me some tips on finding some Toppling Goliath shelfies? Do they drop bottles off on certain days and at a select few shops? Do any shops offer growler fills? I'll also be working around Milwaukee and Kenosha, but I'm pretty sure they don't distro that far East yet.
Not looking for anything crazy, just some Sue to pop my TG cherry.

Dells is great for the kids, and true mostly FIB plates in town. Same can be said for all of Door County in the summer and half of the plates in the Northwoods too :)

I know a lot of people in MKE that go up to Door Co, so I'd guess its a little more evenly split than the Dells. Agree that the Northwoods is pretty evenly split.

You FIBs do seem to own most of the nice lakes in Southeastern WI (Geneva, Como, Delavan, Twin Lakes, et al.).

Don't have much to add to this thread other than I love Wisconsin beer, and this is one of my favorite thread titles on the site.

RUMOR: Bourbon Barrel Kriek Thumbprint release later this year (July). Plausible, based on the picture NG released on FB back in Feb. Not sure what's in those barrels, but if it is BB Kriek, there's likely enough there for a Thumbprint release.

They'll hold the release GTMW weekend to maximize FIB allotments.

There was plenty of Wild Sour left for the GTMW last year, as I reacall, despite being released early/mid July.

After the GTMW...not so much.

Give us a fightin chance, wouldya?
Yea, I got the last 4 pack on Sunday that weekend. Well, last until they rolled out more a few days later anyways.

Id rather have the Berliner, tbh.

I learned my lesson with the WSA release...I got complacent with NG releases and just figured it would be around for a month or 2. Folks walking out of Discount with 2,3,4 cases disproved that, so I'm buying 2-3 cases of this the minute it drops.

Same goes for Berliner Weiss, I don't think this year's batch is going to last long at all....

I think maybe you and I need to talk before I head to Short's Anniversary Party and these new Thumbprints drop brotha...

Someone was paying attention on the New Glarus Hard Hat Tour today.

Hey guys. I just went on the hard hat tour and I found out a lot of great info I thought I'd share. I want to start out by saying the tour was fantastic and the brewery is absolutely gorgeous. I highly recommend going if you ever get the chance.

- we got to go into the new sour beer cave. I'll post some pictures when I get home tomorrow night if people are interested. It is so cool.

- They had beer in the cool ship while we were inside. There are wooden beams above the cool ship and the guide said that Dan sprayed those beams with all sorts of wild yeast and bacteria so that when the hot wort enters the cool ship the steam makes those beams drip down into the beer. Very cool.

- the air was incredibly pungent and sour. It almost hurt my eyes standing in there. I couldn't believe how strong it smelled (it was glorious)

- construction was not complete. The guide said they are adding a grass ceiling... Can't wait to see that.

- it was lined with barrels. The only label I was able to make out from where we stood was "stra blonde". Anyone want to take a guess what that is?

We got to talk to Dan for about 20 min. Super nice guy and I really appreciated him taking the time to speak with us. I think he has a great sense of humor and he was fun to listen to. Here are some things I picked up.

- IIPA coming out in June. They were actually brewing it while I was there. Smelled great. He said they tweaked it a bit this year and are using whole cone hops.

- yokel coming soon. They are brewing it this week.

- he specifically said that BB kriek is going to be a thumbprint later this year. This contradicted the guide who had early said BB kriek was going to be an R&D beer.

- he said that another thumbprint for later in the year is the cranbic base beer that they are souring into a lambic style.

- someone asked if his goal is to have sours year round soon. He said that it is entirely up to the consumers. He doesn't want to make beer that will sit on shelves for years. But he now has the ability to make a lot of beer so if we buy it then he will make it.

- his personal favorite R&D beer so far has been the Golden ale

- has gave his sours to people who judge the world beer cup (forget who he said it was). They told him that his sours were as good as anything winning medals. He was happy about that.

- I almost forgot to add this! Someone asked about the olde english porter. He said he absolutely loved the beer but he hated the amount of criticism he received. He got a ton of calls about that beer being spoiled when it really wasn't. He said he may make it again but he will certainly change the name so people don't expect a porter.

Some additional things the guide said I found interesting:

- they are making the hometown blonde again this summer (Yay!)

- he said the next thumbprint is berliner weisse and I actually saw bottles with the label

- he said an R&D is going to be the BB kriek, which contradicted Dan who said thumbprint

- they have capacity to brew 300k barrels per year. The main thing holding them back right now is the amount of yeast they can propagate. Their yeast tanks are maxed out

- they want to can their beers. This is a long term goal (4+ years)

- he stressed over and over that they have a lot of really cool sours being worked on. Should start seeing them very soon.

I've always wanted to try the BB Kriek, so that will make my year if this is true. But, I sometimes get a craving for the Old English Porter and really hope this returns.

It's my favorite of all the R&Ds, but this is great news and I'm looking forward to seeing what's in store for the future...
