Yo Wisconsin bros...my buddy brought me back 2 4packs of New Glarus Apple Ale recently and now I am straight addicted. I need to feed this craving. Any idea how long this stuff will be around? If I can, I'd like to wait 'til I make a Chicago trip and head out to Milwaukee as well and snag a case along the way, but if it's gonna be gone relatively soon I'ma have to put out an ISO. Just wondering if you guys had any guesses to how long it should stick around.

It's here and there but definitely not prevalent. A little searching needs to be done now to find it, I would drop an ISO.

For those that aren't on the Facebook:

Yes, the bourbon barrels are now living in the wild fruit cave..no word on beers yet but word is... they will be sour!

sucks. makes me feel a little better since the 2 i've had out of my 4-pack have already soured. honestly hope they never brew it again so i stop throwing away money toward it.
I thought they've had other vintages that were infected as well. I distinctly remember the first time I ever had it (1-2 years ago, I had a huge gusher and it was straight up unwelcomed funk.

oh yeah, it happens every year. but if they aren't infected, it's really a great deal. 2 years ago i believe all were, but last year it was like 50/50 (and i got lucky with my 2 4-packs). figured i'd take a chance--fool me thrice, i deserve to throw my money down the drain.

More on the growing sour ale culture here in WI:

Sour brews soar in Wisconsin as beer drinkers develop a taste for tart

From the article:
In spring, New Glarus hopes to plant grass on the roof and open the fruit caves and a gift shop to the public.

Dan expects it will be August before he can preview his first batch of beer made in the caves.

He also hopes to expand his fruit beer line to Michigan peaches and other types of fruit.

2 years ago I had two cases of Peruvian Morning and none were infected. Last year, I had one case and none were infected.

Any of you guys going to Discount's Craft and Draft Tasting April 27th?

I'm flying back from PDX on the 26th. Given that I'll be trying to weasel my way to various beer related endeavors while in PDX (we're visiting my wife's sister and her family), I'll probably not try to tack one more on at the end of the vacation.

I think this is only the second or third year for Crafts and Drafts, but I believe Marie saves some of the better bottles she gets (e.g. Cantillon) to pour at the tasting. There will also be a keg of Darkness from what I'm told. It's a pricey tasting, but at least it's not going to be filled with a bunch of shelf New Glarus, Lakefront, Sprecher, etc. (Or at least there will be a few good limited offerings.)

Yeah, barrel aged DFH WWS and Mikkeller BlackFist stand out, as do a few others. This will be the #1 beer tasting in Milwaukee after a few more years.

I think Andy has a bit of a role in planning this also....at the very least, it's his name on the PayPal account for buying tickets.

Next NG Thumbprint is Berliner Weiss.

Also, they are going to be moving to a rotation where there are two six-month Thumbprints and four three-month thumbprints per year (versus six two-month like we've had the last couple of years). I heard this rumor a while ago, but I've been hearing more and more about it recently.
