I assume a "claw job" would take about 4 days to complete and leave you completely unsatisfied in the end....

The photo booth pic starring Compton25 and I would refute that claim.

It was in a DDT thread. Did you miss it?

Random question, is Live Oak Grodziskie available for crowler fills anywhere? I know it's a long shot, but really enjoyed this beer on my recent visit to Texas

That's a pretty expensive fill.

HEB by me has $12 Live Oak 64oz fills when they have it in.

Confirmed last night will be in Austin for Memorial Weekend. Friday night to Monday noonish.

Plan is to hit up Pinthouse Pizza on Friday night on our way across the southside. Anything else around that area which we should hit up?

Edit: Google helped.

From east to west there's:
South Austin Brewery
St Elmo Beer Co
512
Pinthouse.

That's super convenient. Any of these musts or avoids?

You're missing ABGB!

Pick up a Barks For Beers passport. Killer deal for a good cause and it'll be worth it if you're hitting a bunch of breweries: http://divinecanines.org/barksforbeers/

May do a bottle share that weekend if you're interested - open invite to everyone else too.

This is just for Friday. Few more days to check other stuff out.

I see Oasis and Infamous out in Lake away area too. Any good?

Saturday we will head into Downtown.

Oasis' head brewer recently left and not really sure what that means for them. Honestly I only try to regularly read up on maybe a handful or so Austin breweries. The only real reason I've gone out to Oasis is if I've got an out of town guest who wants to see a pretty view of Lake Travis.

Most of the breweries in the east side are solid. Zilker, Lazarus, and Hops And Grain all have good taproom exclusive drafts right now. F&A is kinda ehhh.

Add Live Oak, then HI Sign, the Orf.

Wife and I usually slide in and split a taster flight. We can be in and out in under 30 mins. If we find a beer that's worth a pint then we stay. So for Friday night just looking at the 290 corridor. But there's already at least 7 breweries. That's more than 1 evenings worth.

For South Austin, don't go to South Austin Brewery they suck (beer and business practices). St Elmo is a must try at this point. Lazarus is killing it. I actually really enjoy Hi Sign, and you can't pass up Live Oak. Friends & Allies needs a little more time to hit their groove. It's been a while since I've been to H&G, but I've heard their tap selection has been pretty slim lately. Blue Owl is definitely worth a visit if you like sour/tart beer. 512 has that weird ticketing system now on Saturdays? You probably won't find much outside of their mainstays. I'm hit or miss on Zilker's beer, but they do have a cool taproom. PHP of course is a must try.

This is a pretty good list. If you do H&G, might as well do Zilker & Lazurus as well since they are right down the road. Can pretty much make of day of just those three, could even add Brew & Brew to that as they always have a good selection. And I agree to give F&A a little more time before declaring them a must visit.

While not in South or East Austin, I'd recommend visiting Austin Beerworks if you have time.

Hops and Grain is getting into the haze game now as well, but yeah about half of their taps are generally taproom-only.

Zilker has a nice blueberry sour on right now - and this is coming from someone who isn't into kettle sours...

Up by Austin Beer works (a must stop)
Also Adelberts
Oskar Blues
Celis (what's the story there? )
4th Tap
Circle Brewing

Any hits and misses? I know what to expect from Oskar.

ABW is definitely the one "must stop" production brewery in that area. While neither are amazing, I like 4th Tap and Adelbert's. So they aren't bad spots to hit if in the area.

Celis isn't open yet, and you can skip Circle (mediocre) and Oskar (nice space but they don't really have any tap room exclusives at this location, like they would at their Colorado facilities).

Agreed. My favorite Brewery in town. Great people. Great atmosphere. Always exclusive beers on the board.
Also Adelberts
Rapidly becoming one of my favorites. Their barrel aged beers have gone from amateurish to pro in the last 2-3 years. Flying Monks is one of the better clean barrel-aged beers I've had in town.
Oskar Blues
It's exactly what you'd think it would be. I always get Ten Fidy when I go there. And it's always good. If you get a chance to tour the brew space it's definitely the most massive in the Austin area. PE $$$ y'all.
Celis (what's the story there? )
Not open yet. Opening soon. The space will also be shared with Atwater Brewing out of Detroit when they do open.
Pass. Never really been impressed with their beers.
Circle Brewing
Surprisingly a must go-to. They always have some great brewery exclusives.

BTW: I finally made it out to Blue Owl this weekend. If you're going to Austin, you should probably go to Blue Owl. $15 gets you 4 12oz pours of beer and a free glass. That Dapper Devil (raspberry belgian ale) is absolutely on fire. They also do growlers and off-premises sales (brewpub license).

I ******* hate getting a glass with beer purchase. JFC, I don't need any more shaker pint glasses.

I just want a 4oz flight of beers to see if they're worth a damn. Not 4 12Oz pours.

Well you'll like Blue Owl then... they actually have a choice between 4 4oz, 8oz, or 12oz pours (I wanna say $8, $10, $15) with different glassware for each size...

All of them have the Blue Owl logo with different patterns on the 8oz and 12oz. If you don't want the glass, give it back, ha.

There was one point a couple of years ago when I thought Circle was ok. But last time I went each beer I had was bad. Like they all would've been drain pours had I been at home. To each their own I suppose.

I'm willing to give them another shot. There was a time I thought they were fine. Possible I just went on a bad day or something.
They actually surprised me.... I was doing the Barks for Beers thing and all the beers we got were good. My wife got a barrel-aged beer that she absolutely loved: and she's a much harsher critic than myself.

I think we've got about 5 places left for Barks for Beer. We would've been almost done had my wife not drank 4 TO Punch drinks at Treaty Oak Distilling/Brewing and proceeded to fall asleep, lol.
