i think its the long game the "craft beer" peeps are looking at.
last month, they bought out northern brewer and midwest supplies, a homebrew store...
well, the 2 most popular homebrew stores in the states. the question is...why would they do that?

are they just buying it out because they have a **** ton of cash to throw around?
or are they trying to corner the wholesale market as well?
i wouldnt be surprised if homebrewtalk or homebrewers assocation have been approached by them.

There's a lot of competition between the BMC, Regional breweries, big craft and small craft vying for limited shelf space and tap handles. Eventually as the crafty options grow, they can cut prices and force those who can't (the small independents) out, it's all about the slow strangulation of the independents, and they're just building their portfolio as well as building those brands up. It'll take time, but that's their goal. Market share.

Texas, rejoice! I am travelling to Austin for work 1/16 - 1/20. Who wants to meet up and have the time of your lives*? I should be free most evenings.

*I'm not very exciting. Be prepared for lots of uncomfortable pauses in conversation.

Edit: Staying at the Doubletree near UT

Definitely owe you a few beers after winning your LIF! Shoot me a message when you're in town. I'm a restaurant manager, so my schedule is all over the place, but I'll be able to meet up at least one day.

The wife and I will show you a good time.

That hotel is a short Uber to a couple different breweries (Blue Owl, Zilker Brewing, Hops & Grain) as well as downtown.

TABC need to stop being babies and return the mans' crowler machine like yesterday.

... ... It would be even nicer if Oskar Blues just sent another.

... Oh wait, they decided to sit in the corner and not help at all with the issue. I forgot.

Haha yep. And of course now they want to celebrate the win:

Hello Lone Star Peeps,

I've recently moved to north of Dallas and will be in the area for the next few months because of family and school type stuff. I was wondering if anyone would mind filling me in on the beer scene in the area??

Also really wondering where I should go to pick up some 2016 Bourbon County. So far my searches have mostly brought up Whole Foods, but there must be more options than just that right?

Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers!

You need to check out Lonestar in Carrollton. The associated growler bars Lonestar Taps and Caps are also great

ok that taps and caps place looks awesome! and it's only 10 minutes from my location. Definitely going to be making a trip out there this weekend.

Definitely check out LUCK next time you're downtown.

I can't say enough nice things about that restaurant.

Oh and Pecan Lodge BBQ is the best thing ever in Deep Ellum.

**** that Franklin line. Was thinking la barbecue or kerlin though.
La BBQ recently changed pitmasters and wasn't very good last time I was there. Also: there will be a line.

Kerlin is good tho. I just think Mickelthwait is better.

Too bad John Mueller is going up the river for tax evasion cause that was my go to.

I saw Dipak is working a food truck and slangin growlers at CM Westgate. Anybody hear anything about Kamala Gardens lately? No go?

I always enjoyed the stuff they were making at Whip In on their rinky dink homebrew setup.
