Houston is a crazy good food town, so with no specifics of what type of food you want... here's my suggestions based on the idea that you're in town for the Final Four and won't want to travel too far from there:

Mala Sichuan Montrose (closes 9:45pm), Brennan's (10pm), Vic & Anthony's (11pm), El Tiempo 1308 Annex (11pm), Max's Wine Dive Fairview (2am)
jmgrub dat el tiempo cannonball is the tits. I'll also throw in niko nikos 11pm and les givrals midnight

Is houstons Vic and Anthonys as pricey as the one in Vegas or have you not been to the one in Vegas?

Never been to the one in Vegas, but these two links tell me that the Houston one is just slightly cheaper.

Don't look at the menu. Get the fried egg sandwich. Thank me later.

Dammit now I want a fried egg sandwich.

I want to agree, but the fried chicken... mmmmmmmm

Close second, wife usually gets that so I get to have a few bites of that as well ;)

You guys ******* killed it on the food recs. Max's was the perfect ending to the night. Between El Tiempo, Kenny and Ziggy's and Max's, I've probably taken a year off of my life between three meals, but well worth it.

Hey, as the 3rd fattest city in the US, we know our food. Glad you enjoyed it (would love to hear your thoughts on the order at Max's to solve this dispute...)

I actually ended up getting the grilled cheese. My dad got the fried chicken. Our friend got the fried egg sandwich and his son got the fried chicken. Everyone went home extremely happy and beyond stuffed.

We also shared an order of the mac-n-cheese. Pretty sure I've gained 5 lbs this weekend.

Good people of Texas. I'll be going to Dallas next week Friday through Wednesday (4-15 to 4-20) for a conference. Staying downtown at the Sheraton. Need halp!

Recs on:
1) Beer bars/pubs/taprooms/stores
2) Eats
3) Any decent whiskey bars?

This has probably already been covered in this thread somewhere, but I'm lazy as **** right now.

Thanks!

Had a great weekend in Dallas. Flight got in late on friday night, but met up with my brothers and went to Ginger Man, had Tempress, Community Mosaic(banger), and Live Oak Hefe. Went to some bar across the street with huge connect four and those crazy bounce balls you get inside and hit each other with. Reminded me of American Gladiator.

Saturday hit up total wine and Specs per some suggestions, got a bunch of cans for the Nascar Race and all the live oak Hefe cans left. Dankosaurus was nice and tasty, but forgot rest of IPAs are slightly maltier. Ate at Pecan Lodge for lunch, line was long but was with 7 other guys so we order 5lbs+ of meat so went in the shorter line, damn tasty.

Sunday hung out in Deep Ellium, stop by Off the Record, Braindead, stayed at Wits End for a bit had a few pints of Yellow Rose. Probably the best beer I had in texas. Ate some Serious Pizza which was a cool but busy spot and finally picked up some Jester King bottles at Craft and Growler.

Overall had a great time. Thanks for the recommendations. I wish I could drink Yellow Rose and Live Oak Hefe all the time. Sorry to austinbridges for forgetting to hit you up. Totally spaced on sunday.

Unfortunately this is prolly 5 years too late. Too much ******* beer on our shelves. I'll prolly buy Two Hearted twice when it's fresh, continue drinking local IPAs, and then pay them no mind except for special releases.

Their **** is also freaking expensive compared to what's in the Texas market. I seem to remember 6-ers of TH being $11.99 last time I was in Florida.

5 years ago I would've gone apeshit tho. Hey 2011 Lutter, get PUMPED.

Better late than never. Two Hearted was basically my go to IPA back when I lived in the midwest. So assuming we get it fresh, it will be in my fridge often. My wife loves Oberon, so she'll be happy during the summer months.

This. When I was in college, Two Hearted and Oberon were go to beers. I'll still drink it when I visit home, but there are so many others on the shelf that it's almost just for nostalgic reasons.

Ill be happy if we actually get the stout and porter, since i aint ever had em. 2 hearted seemed like the only beer i could get(wherever i got bells, cant remember where the heck i was) and im not an ipa fan. (but it was decent for someone like me lol)

Bump. If anyone wants to touch tips, I'll be be wandering downtown Dallas drunk tomorrow night.

I've got time for one (and only one) stop in Houston for lunch and a beer on my drive to Austin in a couple weeks. Where do I go?
