Question for Houston guys, is Black Friday at specs worth the **** show? What's a good time to go with a good chance of getting bc variants?

i only participated in the **** show in '13, when BCBS first arrived to TX. i was the 15th person in line @ 6:10a
i'll say show up @ 5a...because its (the local beer scene) gotten crazier since then.

Just my opinion, but this is absurd. I'd rather not drink any than wait for 5 or 6 hours for a small beer allotment.

i agree. i only participated that year because several of my friends wanted me to join in on the absurdity.
it was fun...but...never again.

EDIT: the allotment wasn't small tho. specs clears their cellar on black friday..

If anyone has some La Muerte + variants available I'd like to snag one of each (EC12, Vanilla, and Coconut) If anyone is willing to part with some let me know and we will work something out. Will be in austin next weekend so could do IP in SA or Austin if you are there.

Thinking something like Lambiek special + DG passion pom bu or beaucoup berry bu for all 3? Maybe add something else for the base La Muerta as well?

No idea really on value but we can work something out.

Edit: also have an 11-14 Abyss vertical that I don't see myself drinking if that interests you. blatherbeard you're the abyss guy right?

I've talked myself out of it the last couple of years. Can't remember what the variant is this year but if I can get a pretty good amount of stuff from their cellar release that I've missed on thoughout the year I'll be happy.
The weather is going to have to be damn near perfect though.

Yeah I'm not doing Specs this year. I don't have the money for it and I just don't care that much. Sleeping in and grabbing it on draft around lunch just sounds much better.

Hey bro just saw this. I def could give up a muerta and an EC12. Not sure about the variants just yet, ckowalski is getting me 2 more of each, but i just dont know if id trade them away. (havent had the vanilla just yet, but he coconut and the rest were jaw dropping IMO)

Bcbs is everywhere, just walk into a random grocery store or out of the way spec's. Sat night at 7pm, walked into 1 and 3 cases sitting on the ground. Bought 2. Drank 1, did not care for it

Barrel aged beers can pick up savory notes and I think some people are more sensitive to it than others. Didn't like last year eithers. And I love bourbon and bourbon beers. Same way some people get onion out of Summit hops.

The last shipment of Weller 12 has pretty much dried up from any of the larger stores, but I have a spare if you need one. I haven't even looked for BCBS because I'm on a beer buying hiatus. A lot of stores got obnoxious amounts (40+ cases), so I would call the spec's locations first (although they were selling it by the case), the larger HEBs (Hancock, Escarpment, Slaughter, possibly Central Market), and Total Wine should have some left since they we're limiting it to 2pp (what I was told). It could all be gone though because Austinites are becoming ridiculous with "rare" beer.

Pretty sure I saw specs put out that Bodie had quite a bit left. That was yesterday though. (Specs Bodie Lane for the out of towner...)
