:( storms tripped a gfi outlet. My German pils fridge was running off of it. By the time I saw that, beer was at 78F. Chilled back down to 55F but the 10 gal batch is probably lost.

I feel for you. I lost a couple deer like that a few seasons back. GFI tripped and my freezer was off for a few days. Smelled great when I opened it.

The new Total Wine makes Spec's Brodie look like an absolute joke. Now I can completely stop shopping there and pick up my bourbon & gin elsewhere.

Also: apparently there is a Firestone event tomorrow featuring Parabola. Nice.

Also this made me chuckle in the glassware section:

If your Total Wine is anything like the ones in DFW then the beer prices and selection is better than Specs but Specs has cheaper prices of spirits.

I dunno if it's just opening prices... but they seemed to be cheaper across the board. Picked up a sixer of Sucks for $8.99! 1.75 of Tito's for $19.99.

I wasn't impressed with Total Wine at all. It's much more visually pleasing than specs, which always looks like a garage sale to me, but I don't think their beer program is anything serious.

Spirits, yeah decent. They had Saint George absinth which I haven't seen in a while.

Customer service seemed not great. I was in there 30 minutes and no one asked me if I needed help. In fact, I had to chase down employees for help.

The Walmart of booze. No thanks.

Well yeah, we've all come to expect that at Specs, but I thought TW was supposed to be all about customer service. Maybe that doesn't include long-haired tattooed freaks.

I'm guessing you scared them. Remember, they're new here. They don't know us yet ;)

Well, I'm looking forward to the one at Lakeline opening, just to have another option here in the far northern hinterlands

A fellow TBer, Aaron, works at TW in Sunset Valley. Wanna say his screenname is deadmolecules.

How's Total Wine's in the single-barrel whiskey/rye department anyways? Do the Dallas stores ever get special selections? Didn't see any at this time, but I assume that's because they just opened.

Hey Dallas folks...

I have the following to give away: a box full of shaker pint glasses, cardboard 4 bottle shipper, and a styrofoam 12 bottle shipper that doesn't have a box (thx Indytruks138).

You must pick these up from me - PM me if you want any or all of it.

Apparently Bear Republic pulled out of Texas on June 1st... Because the "drought."

Wonder if we'll see any other craft CA craft breweries languishing on shelves pull out with this excuse.

Did they really claim the drought? Either way, I'm with you - easy to see they haven't been selling well here so I can't blame em.

Ruination and Racer 5 as must have CA beers? Uh....

But the rest about the drought. Spot on. A one-size-screws-all could very well happen.
