Due to Avery's pricing and 12 ounce bottles I haven't had anything other than rumpkin which was given to me from their barrel stuff. That probably won't change in the future.

your point wasn't missed. it's just that it's a tired argument.

if you deem something too expensive, they don't buy it. if you deem buying lambic overseas for cheaper per ounce a better choice, do it. it's not that far off from say, parabola in pricing per ounce. a lot cheaper than say, black tuesday per ounce. that's a personal decision. doesn't make what the brewery is doing or how they price wrong, it just makes it wrong for you.

and only a very small number of their beers are that price. none are the year round beers and are all small batch special releases. their large batch stuff is very reasonabily priced (czar, etc). we don't know what the prices will be. bitching about them before we even know, and assuming that they'll be expensive is silly. things exist beyond special releases.

Not sure where most of that came from since 90% of above I never said. Just made a comment (I guess that's bitching) about their barrel aged pricing which was met with comments about their normal offerings and barrel aged beer quality.

Not a big deal. They make awesome beer, I just choose to pass on these specifically. Moving on.

Short notice, but there is a small/medium-ish sized share going down at Gingerman @ 3:45PM. We'll be there 3-4 hours I'd imagine. I'm bringing mead and fruit-beers. That's as specific all I'll be, but I definitely wouldn't miss this...

In terms of breweries and quality restaurants, I prefer Austin.

I got the email and I'm actually very interest in coming Sunday. Sounds like a fun time. Do you anticipate they will sell out quickly? I'm waiting to see if my friend can get me a ticket, but he's not 100% sure if he can swing it

Last year sold out during the day they went on sale. It was a blast though. If you haven't had it BBDR13 is amazing. Best BB Quad I've had. BB2 Brett is great too.

We had a lot of fun at the ABW 4th Anniversary, but it felt more disorganized than previous years... never really knew what I was getting at the outside stations till I got to the front of the line and the inside was slammed.

I get to be annoyed tho since you can find my wife and I there pretty much any Saturday afternoon. ABW is still an Austin treasure that can be enjoyed without waiting in a huge line most days.

Katherine kept trying to pawn off our extra tokens (from the tasting room hours) to the bartenders as I kept explaining to her that wasn't the way it worked, lol.

If anyone is wondering why there was a sudden change in ABW's bar setup, they're adding more fermentation capacity (again). The bar had to move and barrels are being moved next week to their refrigerated warehouse location (off Braker Ln) to make more room. Wouldn't be surprised if in the next 2-3 years the brewery had to change locations entirely.

BTW: that Blood Orange IPA (Bloodwork) needs to be a Heavy Machinery IPA entry. **** that was good. Favorite of the day.

Agree on the organizational issues. Last year they had signs over all the taps, so you could see what was on at which station. This time, no signs, so you had to either stand in a long (15-20 min) line and hope they had something on when you got up there, or send someone up to check at the table, if you could even figure that out.

I appreciate that they had multiple tappings of some things, so if you missed it the first time you could get it again later, but maybe a tiered entry system (multiple sessions, etc) is the way to go, because that place was PACKED, and hot as **** inside.

Still love those guys and their beer, though. As hot as it was, Sputnik still won the day for me. So glad I'm still sitting on a 64oz growler of that in my fridge

haven't had it much less heard of it. I'm surprised independence is still around. I found their regular lineup to be mediocre at best. Undrinkable at worst.

They seem to be doing well.... they're the Austin equivalent of Saint Arnold's regular lineup in my mind. Their taproom prices are alright, I will say that... 16oz glasses for $3.50 apiece *shrug*

This Red Bud is something special tho. It also seems to be sold out EVERYWHERE.

they only made 2 batches so far and 1st batch had 270 cases and 2nd had 200 cases for all of ATX - most of the stores are only getting a case each except few - 3rd batch should be out in the next 10 days or so...

Don't sleep on Power & Light either. Really, really tasty. They are definitely improving
