Disappointing to see so much beer stored warm and very old dates on beer, still being stored warm. DIPA with a 9/2014 date should be returned to the distributor.
Oh... Ya you definitely need to check dates there. The warm thing I can get over just because of how much beer they have. Would be pretty difficult to store all of that cold.

Maybe, they could dump a lot of crappy beer/wine coolers. Buy more merchandisers and they'd be good. Store excess in a cold room in the back. Just frustrating to see something I want to try and it was packaged anywhere from 6 to 18 months ago. For some styles that's not an issue but others...blows.

I do like they have single bottles, easy way to try a lot without having to buy a sixpack.

You should see the Specs here in Laredo. 09/2014 is a freshie.

Dammit....I did a mix 6 to explore some new beers. Had a Red IPA (or some such ******** nonsense) from Goose. Rambler IPA? And it was a 9/2014. This wasn't the one I was mentioning earlier. I cursed myself a drainpour.

Grapefruit Harvest IPA from Abita was pretty refreshing.

I've been trying to find a fresh-ish Double Jack here in San Antonio and all of them at Total Wine are dated July 2014. Frustrating.

Yeah but.....but....ABYSS!!

Anyone from Austin or the surrounding area planning to hit circle's 4th anniversary party on the 14th? I will most likely be there with my pops. Hopefully the glass this year can fit adult male fingers in the handle.

march 14th? oddly enough i plan to be in town that day.

Well then be forwarned that March 14 is right in the midst of SXSW and the city will be a zoo. If you are in town tho, hit me up. I have 6 growlers of Hill Farmstead and a few dozen heady that needs to be consumed in the next 2-3 weeks.

As long as hippies, hipsters and weirdos keep a 500 foot radius away from me, I will live.

I don't remember if I have your number or not. I don't think I do. I'll definitely be in town around lunch time, might meet up an old friend, and then hit up jester King and probably spend most of the day there ;) i can share something fun too I'm sure

It seems like most people here are from Austin or Houston, but Dallasites should check out Small Brewpub. Legitimately good and creative brewpub food that is like modern takes on typical bar food (the chef used to be a sous chef at FT33 I believe). I'm still dreaming of those fried mushrooms, "gnocchi" with roasted root vegetables, and charcuterie. They're making a few interesting and well crafted beers; I could drink tons of that Wild Pale (a tart brett barrel aged pale ale similar in style to E.). Really good cocktails and a good selection of guest drafts too. Highly recommended for anyone in or visiting Dallas. So glad my buddy took me there when I was visiting last weekend.

I am not a fan of their food at Small Brewpub but maybe it's gotten better over the last couple months. You mentioned the FT33 background, and knowing that set high expectations for the charcuterie plate which ended up being a huge letdown considering it was something pricy like $22.

Has AB Noir hit Houston yet?

Admittedly I could see it not being to everyone's style if they went in thinking bar food. I thought the prices were very reasonable for the quality and creativity shown. I suppose the charcuterie and cheese board prices were a little high and there were a few misses for me on the charcuterie plate ('nduja was way different than any I've ever had, whatever the cured meat was was very mediocre) but there were a few big hits too (chicken liver mousse, lamb rillete, pickled celery, mustard). Anyway, I thought the fried wild mushrooms, gnocchi and wild pale were all fantastic with no qualifiers.
