I was THIS close to having Atrial and Black Tuesday. How was it? Maybe I'll do it in the future.

I'd say it really depends on the ratios. Melange #1 was great one month and terrible the next as it developed. I have plenty of BT if you ever want to try.

It was okay. I think I went a little too heavy on the atrial.

My last pour of Atrial I used a bunch of tickets to get the glass completely full. Still ended up giving a few tickets away.
BCBS and Lindley Park is a good combo, we tried it side by side with Bramble and it was a close 2nd.

Also where the F did you get Rare Alex?!
At a bar. Austin Beer Week Fo' Life.

Goose Island is doing several events around town and towards the end of the night and the end of my second glass of BCBCS I asked if they'd do a growler :) knowing the answer would be no, I told the dude I just had to ask since I know I missed out on Cherry Rye and Rare. He then went to the fridge and pulled out a bottle of Rare that was opened earlier. He said he was saving it for his regulars and I guess there was still a decent amount and it was near the end of the night.

He poured what is in the picture which looks to be ~2oz, which is what everyone else got earlier that night. Then I noticed there was still some in the bottle, so I was like **** it, why not, and dumped the rest in the glass which brought it to 5-6oz. He came by a little later saying I wasn't supposed to pour it all, I felt bad, offered him some, but he declined since he had some earlier and said it was cool. So I just tipped him fat, like really fat.

Thug life!
I brought a Cherry Rye to FnS Fest, next time I'll have to bring a Bramble to share. IMO, age is doing nothing but helping it.. bramble was a mess fresh.
I haven't had Cherry yet, but have one in the cellar waiting for a full tasting.

And I'm assuming selling and pouring beer that isn't TABC approved isn't exactly legal, eh? I noticed some people say it was a bottle share so maybe a loop hole made it possible? Also I don't THINK some of the other beers available have been approved but maybe they are.

Most GI beers have already been approved a long time back. Cherry Rye & BCBCS were approved a loooong time ago. Since they didn't charge for the Rare, it doesn't matter if it was approved. It wasn't advertised or on the menu.

I figured that was most likely the case, I don't really keep up with label approvals.

A couple in our tasting group said the same thing, Bramble just had a bigger bourbon kick for me. I think Bramble fresh would lose to LP every time, but it's drinking really good right now.

Bramble is definitely improving with age. I would have agreed that LP is better than young bramble, but having just had my last bramble recently and another LP ('13) I preferred bramble.... For much the same reason you said.... Bigger bourbon hit

Everyone in ATX should come to the Goose Island Beer-B-Que event tomorrow. Food pairings and Cherry Rye & BCBCS on draft.

There's a 50% off code right on the ticket page bringing it down to $27 per ticket...

Apparently ATX don't even Bourbon County.
Cool, but I don't think I can justify a 3hr dinner for really just the tasting of a polarizing beer and a coffee beer.
If vanilla was there too, maybe. Wouldn't be too surprised if vanilla or a few of the sour sisters came out, but it's no biggie.
I'm sure the company and conversation will be delightful! But I have to put some other things first.

The GI party was awesome. Unlimited pours of Coffee & Cherry Rye (and bottles of everything else). The food was awesome as well.

You could tell AB spent some dime. They had multiple national reps and flew in two chefs from Chicago. Serving big scallops and aged prime rib steak.

My wife got smashed too, lol.

I spoke with the National GI rep last night... and Black Friday is most definitely happening in ATX. BCBS, BCBCS, & Barleywine. No Backyard Bramble, unfortunately. This will all happen at 1 store.

Houston is not one of their "core" cities (which are the cities they are currently touring/marketing in), but there will be an on-premises event on Black Friday (he said he'd be heading down there after the ATX event) at The Hay Merchant... bottles coming later (probably Monday/Tuesday I'm guessing)

Dallas and San Antonio weren't even mentioned.

Please keep this info off BA, lol. Don't need 1,000,000 crazy Houstonians driving up here. Thanks.

I want to like and dislike this post all at the same time. Houston isn't one of their "core" cities. At least we got more mention than SA or Dallas.

I've never liked and disliked a post so much. Thanks for the info, its much appreciated.

I just don't understand how Houston gets shut out of so much stuff when its the 4th largest city in America.

Maybe because you're all nuts and extra marketing won't help sell this any quicker? Lol.

Also, you're not getting shut out. Just might have to wait 3-4 extra days. Bottles are coming, just not an off-premises bottle event on BF.

The sour sisters have not been hard to come by in DFW at all. BEK reps have been rather confident that BCBS would hit in Dallas, but I guess we'll see.

Still have only seen Lolita in Austin area, but was in San Antonio for Freetail this weekend, and stores there had all 3 (no Gillian). Makes no damn sense. I have a Lolita, but I clenched up on paying $25 a bottle for those other 2.....
