Man. I used to frequent this place a lot when I lived over off 183. Great bar. Always had unique kegs on in the times I've stopped back there and always seemed to have a crowd... so I'm wondering if this is moreso the owners retiring than going out of business.

Big loss for beer here in Austin. I had many of my first local beers there. Hopefully someone buys it and doesn't ruin it....

... more likely a condo will be going there like everything else nowadays.

Send me a pm if you want details. No one is buying it as of today.

Ended up in Dallas with nothing to do tonight. Any suggestions on a bar to get some good bourbon? I was looking around a bit and saw the Standard Pour as a suggestion, anyone recommend this place?

Strangeways is well under rated.

The cocktails at Small Brewpub are top notch, and their beer is good as well.

Rapscallian also has a great bourbon list.

Actually have a free Saturday so i want to get out and explore.

I'm torn between going down to Austin, or up to DFW. Since I'm driving, beer isnt a priority, but a couple good breweries to stop in would be good. What would be the better choice?

I mean....

There’s really no comparing the Dallas and Austin beer scenes.

They’d prolly even tell you that, lol.

If my main concern was going to breweries, I definitely would have chosen Austin. But that's low on the priorities today, it's more touristy.

If you want zoos and museums... Dallas is far better touristy-wise.

Austin area is all about food, drink, and being outside. Check Do512.com and see if any festivals are happening too or live music.

Pretty much this.

If you decide to head north, Dallas has the better museums, restaurants and beer. If you really want to hit a zoo then the Fort Worth Zoo is the better option. Otherwise not much to see in Fort Worth. (If you do go to Fort Worth, the Flying Saucer downtown is the best place for craft beer.)

Fort Worth also has the Kimbell if you are an art person. I would suggest the Kimbell, dinner at The Bird on Sundance square and then drinks at Collective Brewing Project

So, I took a wrong turn in Ft Worth Saturday and happened upon Cowtown brewery. If you are in the area, I would definitely check it out. Their 3 IPAs are probably the best I've had in many months with a favorable tilt towards their NEIPA. I'm not typically a fan of NEIPAs, but theirs is pretty god damn good.

Trompo is better tacos than you’ll find anywhere in Austin.
Austin is the king of breakfast tacos.

Honestly the only non-breakfast tacos I've found that rival San Antonio/Dallas are at food trucks in the area.

I miss going into hole-in-the-wall places in SA and getting like... 6 tacos for $0.50 apiece for lunch. I can't remember the last lunch I paid less than $5 for here with tip. Such a thing probably does not exist.
