I'll be driving into Austin Friday on 71 on my way to JK then on to New Braunfels, where is the best place to find a case of heavy machinery? Assuming it will still be on shelves this weekend.

Assuming you mean HIPA, anywhere. All places I've been to still have cases. so @E1grocery if they were on here haha. Places still have DIPA, try E1G first.... I honestly don't know which highway is 71. Isn't that also 290 in Austin...
 
Bomb hitting around Austin this week. E1G, Whichcraft, and Barton Hills just got hit.

Goddamnit, I want Mirror Mirror though. Saw Sunrise got it, but screw driving that far north for it to be already gone.
 
Lots of Mirror Mirror at CM Westgate. They also have cases of Wine Barrell Noir if anyone is still looking for that.
 
Bourbon County Barleywine has finally arrived - Halls in DFW started selling bottles this morning.

But really, I just don't understand why it wouldn't have come out the same time as Coffee. I'm just curious exactly where this beer has been sitting all this time and what prompted them to decide to release it now.
 
Mo fuggers - if anybody is bored in Austin (tomorrow night around 930) or SA (on Sat night) and want to meet up for a beer, I'll buy. Tentative plan is to meet up with shelf_turd_ferguson and maybe others tomorrow night at Draught House...then I'm rolling stag on Saturday afternoon/night in SA but definitely want to hit Freetail on my way back to FL. Unfortunately, I'm flying to DFW to no checked bag (read: sans beer) since I am in a hotel for the time being in FL and don't have easy access to my cellar.

I can assure you that you'd be disappointed. :) In fact, shelf_turd_ferguson and I were talking about finding me another screen name since it's so douchey and 30 others on this site are more deserving, but I came up with nothing...and I'm not sure I can unring that bell at this point.

Would be cool to meet up at some point to share some beahs. Hit me up anytime you are in FL over the next two years and I'll do the same if I'm in TX.

Wished we could have linked up again, but there will be another time (TBBW '15?) for sure. Austin was awesome...JK is probably the best US brewery location I've seen thus far (HF isn't close)...amazing place. Freetail was pretty subdued; nothing really going on last weekend and not much on tap.

Try to follow them on Facebook/Twitter. Usually my dad will call me all excited if there's a good release though. Specialty beers are filled every Tuesday at 7pm est (and should be on their website)

Thanks for pointing out E1 shelf_turd_ferguson ,scored me a few 4 packs of heavy machinery HIPA on my way through town last weekend.
 
What is the consensus on sending unreleased beers in trades?
I'd think that trading it (e.g. FT, batch 1 of something unreleased) is douchey, but Extra-ing it could be cool.
However, what if the brewer doesn't want it released yet?

As a frequent volunteer "employee" at Jester King, we are lucky to have access to some of their beers before they go up for sale. And the rule of thumb is that you should drink those beers, or you can give them away, but you are not to sell them or publicly post them up for trade, using their "rarity" for your own benefit.

I typically give a large amount of them away or send to friends as surprise extras, but would never post a FT with them.

I shared and drank my bottle of O&P amongst close friends.

This was pretty much what I expected. For being a Bostonian, you don't seem like a masshole ;)

I'm still a bit curious though, what if the beer is extra'd or opened with friends before the brewer thinks it is ready?

You can only use the term "Masshole" if you're from one of the 3 northern New England states. And we refer to those people as "Stump Jumpers" :)

Personally if I have a beer before release and I give it to someone else, I always warn them that its not ready yet, and to wait until its released to drink it.

The thing with Jester King beers is that they're constantly evolving, so there is never really a single "right time" to drink them. For example, I've had Biere de Miel and several of the citrus saisons already, and despite not being released yet, those beers are "ready", and just awaiting a spaced out release.
