I've liked what I've had from them. I haven't tried DDHIPA Series 3, but seems like everyone has been raving about it.
I've been buying their regular IPA as one of my normal rotations.... it's really solid and Whole Foods has been having it on sale for $7.98/6-pack pretty regularly.

Oh that's sad. I remember my first Weedwacker, was at the Porch Swing Pub. I really liked it. I mean, sure, I haven't had it in ages, and sure, if I were going to St A today, I'd load up on Orange Show or Art Car or 5ocp. But still, sad.

I honestly don't think I ever tried it. I guess it was like a Dampfbier, which I'm not usually a fan of. Love me some lots of wheat.

I'm honestly surprised it hung on as long as it did. I rarely saw it on tap and almost never saw/heard people buying it. In all the times I ran into their Dallas rep I can't recall any time she mentioned weedwacker.

The last time I remember drinking Weedwacker was at the Houston Zoo at a random stop where the have a few taps over by the elephants. I also bought a couple 6 packs of cans when they started canning. It’s a good beer but I don’t think it’ll be missed.

I’m going to be in DFW this week M-F afternoon. Anyone have any must hit spots for food and bourbon and maybe a beer?

Where in DFW?

Food and Bourbon - Go to The Bird Cafe on Sundance Square in Fort Worth. They normally have a BTAC or 2 at a reasonable price, then hit Collective.

Is Art of the Brew not happening this year?

That's been my favorite event the last couple years. I thought about it because it usually happens August/September... but their facebook/twitter hasn't updated since December ;____;

Living in the tippy top of east Austin this so sooo much closer than Burnet for me. They’re gonna make bank... Round Rock has a population of 100,000 and only 2 breweries right now (Bluebonnet & Flix).

That’s a lot of fermentation vessels (compared to the other 2 breweries). Wow.

Austin - I will be down there next Thursday-Sunday. Hitting JK, Live Oak, getting Franklin's to-go and eating/drinking on boat on Lake Travis. If you're around - hit me up.

Also, it's Fresh Hop, not Wet Hop. :)

We're releasing one of the best IPAs (if you care about those) in Austin, Nomura, on Friday at Pinthouse Pizza South Lamar and it should last a while (22 kegs). We're doing crowler fills this round as well.

I might have to make the approximately 89 mile drive from North Austin for that!

Visiting Austin early October. Keeping an eye on this page for ideas. Excited about tacos, BBQ, and lagers.
Tacos are everywhere but food truck tacos are where it’s at.

What part of town will you be in?

BBQ... I still say skip that Franklin’s line and use your time more wisely by hitting up Terry Black’s (Zilker), Mickelthwait (east side/truck), or Stile Switch (North) in town.

If you really want lagers you need to make The ABGB at the tippy top of your to-do list. They rule lagers in this town. Hell... let’s just say the country.

We'll be staying downtown. My wife hates waiting in lines for food, so anything that involves a line is automatically out. I'm going to look up those places you recommended. Not interested in hype, just want it to be good!

ABGB came highly recommend so I'm definitely planning on checking that out! Anything else besides JK, Live Oak, Oddwood, and Pinthouse Pizza I should consider? Cheers!

If you’re going out to Jester King check out Pieous in the area for awesome pizza and the best pastrami I’ve ever had. Also if your wife or you like vodka Deep Eddy Distilling is right near there and they have a tasting room.

As far as breweries go you’ve already got a solid list. If you’re going to Oddwood, literally 2 blocks away is Batch Craft Beer & Kolaches that has a fantastic happy hour (and kolaches) where you can try a large variety of local beers at singles prices (their happy hour waives their corking fees). Vegan, meat, and sweet kolache options... I’m partial to their brisket kolache.

If I wanted to add anything I’d say check out St. Elmo Brewing. Their Karl Kolsch is the best kolsch in town... ask for a liter... I don’t think it’s on the menu... and everyone will be like “wtf did that guy order?” And you’ll want a liter. Because I like adding booze options... Still Whiskey is right next door and have some good ass cocktails.

If you’re downtown saunter down to almost the end of the Rainey Street District (past Banger’s... keep going...) to Craft Pride. 60+ taps of Texas brewed beer.... they almost always have cask beer too if you’re into that sorta thing. Normally pretty chill. There’s also tons of food trucks on Rainey.

Bangers I usually stay out of because it’s packed but they’re about to double their taps to 200+. It’s on the expensive side, but they’ve normally got a really good barrel aged list.

When exactly, just keep in mind ACL is on the first two weekends of October.

Reiterating that St. Elmo should be on every visitor's itinerary. They're the sleeper hit brewery of Austin right now.

Whoa! Thanks for the great info Lutter Definitely checking out Pieous (you had me at pastrami). Also, I could definitely do a liter of Kolsch. I think I might come back a little heavier from this trip! I'm going to make sure to post an update when I get back about what all I was able to check out.
