BIL? Brother-In-Law?

Heading to a 40th in Santee to consume this 2L of Roustabout and it’s

Stop by RCNP. I'm here until 5pm. Super Frosh "In the Curl" is on. :)

Working South Park this weekend. Swing on by. IIIPA and Black IPA came out swell.

All day saturday? Thinking that if my tentative appointment on saturday doesn't happen (really hoping it doesn't) then I'll take the better half to Hamilton's. She has still never been despite us being at SPB for that anniversary dinner/beer pairing not all that long ago. Figure there and then make the incredibly long journey to SPB.

I’ll be there starting at 5. Second Saturday at Hamiltons today!

Any of you fools have suggestions on a great bar/restaurant for a decently intimate date night that's more focused on spending time together than eating or drinking?

I'm thinking Tiger Tiger maybe and bringing board games, or NPBC for the shuffleboard (and bringing board games), but these are mostly half-baked ideas.

Tribute and you can sit at one of the bar tables?

Check out Trust in Hillcrest. I've also heard nothing but amazing things about Cueva Bar but still have not checked it out, hoping to in the very near future. Both are kind of "longer" meals where you can get a course/plate at a time and try lots of different things.

+10 on Trust, one of the best in SD

-1000 on Cueva Bar.... has probably the worst dining experience of my life there a few years ago

Trust is too fancy for SO. Also, we wanted something less focused on the culinary experience, and more on us. That's why I'm thinking a more down to earth experience like at a bar or whatever.

Hundred Proof, Tribute
Been to Hundred Proof, meh, not impressed. Tribute is still a place we def need to go to, but we already did pizza yesterday.

great bar/restaurant...intimate date night...more focused on spending time together than eating or drinking...board games...shuffleboard
This is such an odd ask. It's no wonder you're getting a pu pu platter of answers.

Trust looks great. I wanna go there.

Mmmm...pu pu platter.

Made my first old fashioned last night. Now to figure out better ice making.

I like mine with a large ice cube. While an ice mold is nice, a small tuberware container is a good poor man's fix.

Also i recommend try Angostura bitters and using turbinado sugar (or as others have stated before, other forms of sugar like brown sugar or honey).

I make these in advance and stick them in a gallon Ziploc in my freezer for whenever I'm in the old-fashioned mood.

Although I've been considering getting their Perfect Ice Cube tray for drinks.

Also, make syrup. More consistent than cubes. I keep a 2:1 simple (made with white sugar) and a 1:1 demerara.

Old fashioned with syrup? Xplain please. Is this instead of the sugar cube? And if so, how much volume added? Guessing it probably saves on time since dissolving the sugar cube in bitters takes some stirring.

2oz bourbon
1/2 or 3/4 oz simple (depends on preference)
2 dashes angostura
Orange peel

Dissolving a cube is onerous and sometimes inconsistent, can leave grains in the glass.
