Well then you don't think very much of me.Disagreed.
TFTI for the invite.Alright I think I am going to pour a glass of Blanton's.
Isn't it ironic?Irregardless!
2. Anyone try the Green Egg cooker? drbenzo, do you own one? Also thinking about a Traeger (at Costco). I’ve been looking for get a BBQ (and patio furniture) to make it more fun to hang out outside (vs. glued to the TV all the time). I like the idea of all in 1 systems (BBQ, smoke, etc) that are easy to use (walk away) but have some room for tinkering if I want to get nerdy. Maybe in the under $500 range.
I applaud that level of ambition. Hitting Rip Current NP around 1 to enjoy the festivities, looks like it's going to be a great taplist. What's everyoneedoing today? Anyone else hitting the trifecta Pure Project, Karl, Rip parties?

I would take a big green egg over anything if price and space were no issues. Extremely versatile, highest quality construction, and great temp control. That said, I love my traeger, as it’s basically an oven fueled by wood. Easiest temperature control, requires the least skill. I’m always pretty happy with the results, and Costco price is impossible to beat.Okay 2 questions, hybrid #talkcocktail & #talkbbq:
1. Tried making a Mai Tai following Serious Eats recipe but with Costco Spiced Rum instead of Appleton Estate. Wasn’t that great. Hilariously, I made one with Cutwater’s mix & the same rum and it turned out better. Did I botch the recipe on the first try, or should I have stuck with Appleton? Hate wasting money on more rum when I already have a ton (Costco bottle is 1.75L).

Where did you get your Orgeat? Did you make it? That’s critical...Okay 2 questions, hybrid #talkcocktail & #talkbbq:

You better be using mayo on the outside of that bread for grilled cheeses.I would take a big green egg over anything if price and space were no issues. Hoping to swing by RCNP at some point today, got family in town and I’m responsible for cooking dinner, but I solo domed a Wizard blend at Christmas a year ago and still managed to not ruin a tenderloin, so 32oz of high octane BA goodness should be fine if I’m just doing grilled cheeses and tomato soup, right? Just don’t want to **** up mjlevy23 delicious sourdough.

BBQ. Greens are great and fools proof. I use a Weber Smokey Mountain, a bullet smoker, and needs lots of attention but good results. A Traeger is even more fool proof and I’d go with that... even more important is dialing in your smoker. Start slow. Find a good book, I.e. BBQ Bible. Start with chicken and work your way up to pork and beef. Cheers!
Using spiced rum in a Mai Tai isn't something I would ever recommend. Using a pre-mix is probably even worse.
I use Plantation 5 year, freshly squeezed lime, simple syrup (1:1 is fine imo), Pierre Ferrand Dry Curaçao, and Small Hands Orgeat. The little stuff matters to me too. Crushed ice, mint garnish, spent lime shell... it all adds up.
BevMo or Total Wine will carry all that ****. I may my own simpple though, it's stupid easy.My Orgeat was whatever I could find at Bevmo, Torani. I cannot find Traegers at Costco either in person or online.
Where’d you buy those?
Can it be dropped at one of their lockers or whatever?Sigh. I can get a Traeger Tailergater 20 from Amazon for $449, pay no shipping and get 5% back as a Prime member. Seems like a great deal for an entry level Traeger, but I’m scared to do have such an expensive item left at my door and get stolen. Anyway to force Amazon to deliver on a weekend when I can be home? #TalkAmazon #TalkBBQ
