Not long before Miramar gets hit with similar closures.

My guesses would be:
Reckless
Intergalactic (...duh)
Longship
potentially Thunderhawk (which would be too bad I enjoy their stuff)
2Kids

I personally want Barrel Harbor to close or be replaced....then I would spend more time creating miniatures and fighting dragons through various dungeons over at the gaming store At Ease.

I agree 100% with that list. I’m sure Barrel Harbor & Protector will follow. I’ve been to every brewery in the county, and man there are so many that don’t belong open. This based on beer quality only since there’s some awesome people behind a number of these breweries.

Stumblefoot but haven't tried them since the ownership changed
On the tracks though glad they already closed
Rough draft though only had a couple of packages beers so freshness could be at play
Left coast but may be too far north
Culture brewing everything I've had from them has been meh can't believe they are expanding

It seems Hess has a lot of handles out in the wild. Maybe I’m thinking years ago.

They still do, and their tasting room in North Park seems to draw a decent crowd. Inoffensive but thoroughly mediocre beer has its place I guess.

I have friends who are into the home brewing side more than commercial beer and they always want to go to Mike Hess. Mike Hess still has a name at least in that area of beer it appears.

Iron fist was pretty much the spot that got me into the SD beer scene. I keep telling myself to go by the tasting room as it's been a long time since I've even tried anything from them.

I think places like Hess have the "grocery store craft" audience to bank on. People that know they don't want Miller Lite or whatever, but don't necessarily like the stronger flavors of the IPAs at Modern Times, the 12% stouts at Alesmith, etc. They're perfectly safe and drinkable.

The one "I can't believe they're open" place to me, especially their downtown location, is Bolt Brewing.

Groundswell is also opening a third location and based on crowds (none) at the Santee spot the handful of times I've gone, I wonder whether their model is sustainable. I like some of the stuff they do, but when they're off... yikes.

I heard about that, sounds like an accident from Midnight was still not cleaned up. Must have been a bad one. Glad my commute is on surface streets and only takes 10min.

Since this is a beer forum I think this is a good place to remind everyone to drive safely, have a DD, bike (not while drunk though), or get a car service. While BiL, it is not worth a life.

I don't think I would put it that way. You are making it sound like it was the cop that is at fault for all of this. I am sure the cop is completely devastated by this, and he was just out patrolling and doing his job. It easily could have been a civilian who crashed into a dead car in the middle of a freeway.

In fairness, that's for two people and includes tour, glass, and 20oz of beer per person. That's not a terrible value for $8.50.

Realistically, though, it looks ******* silly.

Their beers are pretty decent now. I was surprised when I went to the Grantville location. Certainly better than the lower tier.

Only cost me an extra 15 minutes since I got in the express lane right away and it was early enough in the morning. But yeah, a complete **** show.
