133F and I've got the best beer in the Kingdom

Also ran into Sebowski's bro at Ocelot on my purposeful 5 hour layover at Dulles on my way out here and my father and I drank everything on the board. Sounds like a nice collab will be upcoming with them and a few SD breweries

I am used to Saudi being The Kingdom, so I was impressed and concerned when you said you brought beer to the kingdom. Bahrain is still impressive and probably much needed, but without the threat of ridiculous punishments.

p.s. I just looked up the rules and it states you can bring up to 6 cans of beer, you are missing one. Mission failed ;)

i'm assuming that one can is what's in his glass.

Finally got to try Hedge Witch. Definitely my favorite beer of theirs to date. It has enough of that hop stank on it to add dimension to the hazy orange juice notes. They still had a decent amount of cans available too.

Anyone going to Stone annie? Debating going, though it might be one of the weakest beers lists I've seen, especially for VIP.

I know Dr. Bill isn't a doctor in the sense of having a PhD or MD, but I took a slight pause when Stone referred to him on the event page as 'Dr.' Bill. First time I ever saw that.

Stone 21st anniversary DIPA has some great flavors but it's HOT for a DIPA. Bummer, bought half a case of it.
How in the world does a brewery like Stone make a hot IPA, in this day and age?

Speaking of Dr. Bill, what's the status on his wild brewery or whatever it is?

Rushed fermentation aka the need to turn around beer quick to keep the pipeline going. I'm assuming there are several batches of this beer and my experience might not be the same as others.

Bill's brewery is coming together rather nicely from the pictures I've seen. I'd expect they would be open before the end of the year for sure.

First time I'm not going in quite a few years. Normally I'd be drinking first session and slinging sodas second session. It's still one of my favorite festivals despite the heat.

Bring money for tips if you drink our soda. The tips really help out the club.

Not sure what you mean by this. Do you mean that you've never seen them use quotes around "Dr."? Like this is some kind of perceived slight by finally acknowledging that he is not, in fact, a real doctor? Or am I misunderstanding something here?

If that's what you're implying, I'd have to disagree with the notion that this is anything new. I knew I had seen "Dr." in quotes several times over the years, and a cursory google search reveals at least a couple of prior instances of this:

Don't get me wrong here... I'm not trying to slag on Dr. Bill or anything--- he's a good friend of mine, and I have tremendous respect for Bill. He's a total character, and I know he can rub some people the wrong way, but he's also a longtime friend and a supremely generous guy who has done a lot for the beer community over the last couple of decades.

I wouldn't read too much into the quotes around "Dr.", or take it as any kind of indicator of a change in his branding or Stone's recognition of him. Probably just the first time you noticed it. And the first time I noticed it, I know I thought it was kind of "funny" too.

The list does appear rather weak, but I am going with a couple non super beer nerds so they were quite excited. So yes, I am going, and I suppose I can bring some cash for the sodas for rcubed this time.

I gave you guys nothing last year and had like 2-3 sodas....so now I feel bad. =(

Edit: Although in my pathetic defense, I usually don't carry cash, but again, I will make sure I have some this weekend.
I pretty much only carry cash for the purpose of tipping. Cash tips FTW.

My experience has always been that with all their anniversary beers when they debut. I have always guessed they do that by design so they can roll it out nationwide and it will still taste fresh.

In the past the sweetness from the malt helped cover up the heat but for this year the malt is so light it really lets the hops and alcohol shine more. I believe I have the batch bottled on 7/25.

Still have never gone to a Stone Anniversary event. There's just something about San Marcos in the middle of summer that makes me say, "Oh **** that ****"
Its always been the ticketed aspect that has turned me off on it. The advertise over 300 beers but you can only try 5% of them.
