DB Speedway not being released on saturday and likely not on monday either since the eventbrite page was pulled yesterday or so.

Therefore, less of a shitshow, but won't be able to taste it.
Yup. Bummer. Has this ever happened with AleSmith?

Now see, someone else said something along those lines "not like Alesmith to have a miss like this". I am curious what the thought process is of those that would think this way. If a beer wasn't ready, it wasn't ready. I wouldn't call that a miss, I would call it a brewery not wanting to put out what they consider to be a subpar representation of a beer they want to be great (or in this case a "masterpiece").

Jesus dude, I just asked a legitimate question - no need to add negative subtext behind it.

While I think their language is a bit of spin, I definitely appreciate them not releasing it when they can't fully stand behind it. There are too many breweries locally that would have just have released it.

I think this is where txt and tone don't work out well. I was genuinely curious what would bring about those statements. No negative subtext at all, legit curious. I am sitting here trying to think about it and coming up empty. The other person that mentioned it, when I asked them about it, basically said "**** you" to me as well without helping me understand the reasoning.

Simple curiosity is the reason - I don't remember them doing anything like this before, and I like having a peek behind the curtain, so to speak.

I never stated it was a "miss," nor did I say "Alesmith sucks" or anything of the sort. I can tell why you were rubbed the wrong way by that previous person's comment, but is it really not cool for me to ask if this is unprecedented?

Perhaps I need to choose my words more carefully to make it not appear as a verbal attack next time. My mistake.

But going back in history, I think there was another BA bottle that they rushed to get out to the public and then had to pull back on the release date. I want to say it was a wee heavy version, but it was quite some time ago that I am not 100% certain.

Edit: I wish I could provide a better answer but work has been rough that my free time after normal working hours has been next to nil these past couple of weeks aside from weekends. My Alesmith time has been close to nothing so I don't have any insider info as to why the push of release.

It was a BA Speedway that was waaaaay too hot. They re-released it a year later at some event under the guise of a vintage bottle. It was still too hot.

If it needs more port time I am wayyyy ok with that. I love port wee heavy. When I can I blend the two....3/4 speedway and 1/4 port weeheavy. Yes, I know its the same but....different.

Back in the early days of Toro SD there was a batch of ba speedway where they detected microbes in lab tests. So the nixed the bottle release due to the closet cellerers who would then bitch about infection years later. They did just release the whole thing in kegs and it was everywhere on tap. Couldn't taste anything wrong, so they have set a precedent on altering releases depending on what the beer is doing.

Rule of thumb (for acquisition): Unless you adjunct the **** out of your beer, Constellation doesn't want you.

So...BottleLogic would be next then huh? They have the same MO as Funky Buddha. Adjunct game is strong. Pastry stout game is strong. Regular/Daily offerings are ****-tier by comparison to what breweries around them are pushing out consistently.

In Ballast Point's case, they only adjuncted a few things, and then turned it up to 11 once they got acquired.

Considering Funky Buddha already turns it up to 11, I can only imagine what wacky ******* milkshakes they'll be releasing now.
