Sorry that I like nice sunglasses? I have a few nice pairs of sunglasses and glasses that I use on my PC. It's one of the few things men can wear that are "nice." The other are watches, which I also like.

We just had a conversation about how you buy 5 dollar glasses - it's not for you. I get it.

Not sure how people can get mad about a brewery trying to do something different at a premium price point when shitlords are buying FO's on secondary for $200. Lmao

I'm all about the nice sunglasses and watches. If I was in between sunglasses and needed a new pair (and knew they'd look solid in person and on) I probably would have thrown the cash at the set. It's a cool concept for sure.

But, at the end of the day, a brewery selling a beer with a packaged watch and glass is unusual as hell. Now had 9Five sold the watch with the beer, I think people would have viewed it differently.

I've been pretty amused by this whole thing because it's silly to package unrlelated goods together. You could expect some customer overlap since both products can be seen as luxury goods, but the marketing on this seemed way out of touch with Abnromal's primary customer base from the beginning. Just a fun marketing case study of missing one's market, which Abnormal corrected by offering individual bottle sales (Im curious how much product they're sitting on and what the sales looked like after 24 hours).

Also love watches and always looking for new brands. I would be all over a schramms/shinola collab!
I really don't think much thought was really put into the actual package. I have a feeling it was one of those "i'm using my popular brand to promote my boy's popular brand" off-the-cuff ideas, and the execution of it clearly failed.

If this were done well, and had some deliberate thought behind it, it would've been awesome, and perhaps given way to more off-kilter bundles that would appeal to the typical beer geek neckbeard audience. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case.

Has anyone been checking out Mikkeller's canned stuff lately? Wondering if it's worth pursuing. I noticed they're doing a triple IPA collab with Pizza Port, among other things.

I have recently bought my first bunch of tins. Been avoiding as the name Mikkeller gives me many concerns

These tins have not changed my mind.
I am all done with Milkeller San Diego. Not my thing.

It's fascinating that 95 'Til Infinity was on draft for preview pours, and yet I've heard almost no comments about the beer itself in spite of the spirited discussion about how it's packaged for sale. If one had a tendency towards cynicism, one could draw some interesting conclusions from the lack of commentary on the beer.

I have been going friday at about 4ish each week to try the new releases. Some hits, some misses. I got a good feeling about the mikkeller/green cheek collab though.

Yeah, general consensus seems to be a resounding "it's fine." Personally, I want Makaveli bottles...

It was basically heavy cinnamon. If you don't like that flavor, well, skip this one. It was even enough to cover the rye barrel, which made me a tiny bit sad since I enjoy rye. Cacao nibs didn't come through until the beer was warmer, which also let a bit of the cinnamon flavor subside. For their first BA beer that they released it was good, but his pastry stouts like M3 and All of the Lights I preferred. Next release appears to be Dino Cafe and then Makaveli after that. At least that would be my guess. Not sure if Dino Cafe is on draft at the source but if you see it, get a taster. It seems odd on paper, imperial porter w/ blood orange and a couple other flavors but damn does it play well. It also didn't have an overwhelming orange flavor that reminds you of those chocolate/orange eggs around the holidays (although those are nice too).

I've been grabbing the releases more weeks than not. I really like the Fruit Faces, and I've been exposed to styles I hadn't really had before (the Tripper Bocker being one). I've liked most of the IPAs. They usually have some pretty crazy stuff on tap that I wish they'd let leave the brewery via growler. They've discussed Viking crowlers but haven't given any details.

Just thought I'd let everyone know that Societe has several kegs of Zwickel Heiress on tap, while supplies last. For your health...
Damn, missed it by a day! I did go to Eppig over the weekend and had their Zwickel because of the buzz I heard about them on this thread...I was very impressed. Picked up a couple crowlers and went to grand ol for dinner.

Also bring on the wet/fresh hop beers!

Major bonus points if they are somewhat clear.

Circle of we.....

Burning Beard’s Wet Circle of Hops is clearer than the normal Circle of Hops. And it’s very delicious.

Yeah that.

Also schmaltzy speaks troof. Henchman is still available for pours if you so desire.

Is anyone lining up for DB Speedway Saturday? Wondering how bad it'll be, and how many they've set aside for onsite sales. Would we get the bottles then, or still have to wait to pick them up?

No sir, but I will be there at opening. I would expect maybe a couple hundred bottles and last I was told you buy and walk out with them that day. But with all things, that can change.

I heard they're gonna dip in to the cellar and sell some old bottles too... sorta tempting

Will stop by to try it on tap, but not gonna camp out. Online sales or gtfo.

P.S. There'll most definitely be a couple hundred new money people there prior to opening. I'd bet on that!

Those of you somewhat in the area (sdreaper), Scripps Ranch Board & Brew is celebrating their 3rd anniversary by offering all their beers for 3 bucks all month long.

Their selection ain't too bad too; they currently have Two Hearted and Amalgamator on, and last time they had a few Resident beers on tap too, including Chasing Galaxy.

We're looking forward to seeing everyone at AleSmith's 22nd anniversary party in the tasting room this Saturday, August 12 from 11am to 11pm! We've made a couple changes to our original plan and are excited to share updates with you:

Double Barrel Speedway Stout Stays in the Barrel:
When an artist works on a painting, it's up to that artist to decide when the final brushstroke has been applied and a work of art is ready to be shared with the world. Often it's those last few strokes that take a piece from "great" to "masterpiece." Here at AleSmith Brewing Company, we pride ourselves in taking this same meticulous approach to the craft of brewing the world's highest quality beers.

We anticipated having Double Barrel Speedway Stout ready for our fans in time for our 22nd Anniversary Party. However, we've decided it needs a few more strokes to go from great to masterpiece. So we've pushed back the release date to give this blend some extra time in the barrel to reach peak complexity.

Opening the Archives:
On a weekend that's all about celebrating the past, it seems only natural to swing open the archives and make rare, vintage AleSmith bottles available. Our loyal fans will have an opportunity to purchase classics and fan-favorites like variants of Barrel-Aged Speedway Stout, old vintages of Decadence, and other popular Barrel-Aged releases. Due to the extremely limited nature of inventory for each of these beers, there will be a one (1) bottle per person limit.

We will also be marking 22 individual bottles in honor of our 22 years and giving away prizes to the lucky purchaser of each marked bottle! Prizes will include VIP access to the speakeasy for you and nine friends; a private brewery tour for you and three friends hosted by AleSmith co-owner/CEO, Peter Zien; VIP access to the grand opening of CheeseSmith for you and one guest; and other great prizes.

Additional Party Details:
We will also have these amazing specialty beers on tap for the party in addition to our spectacular core lineup:

Tasting Room Specialty Tap List:
2016 Vietnamese Speedway Stout
2016 Barrel-Aged Speedway Stout
Nibs & Beans Speedway Stout
Lavender Lil' Devil
Dueling Casks: Bourbon Barrel-Aged Vietnamese Speedway Stout vs. Rye Whiskey Barrel-Aged Vietnamese Speedway Stout
Randall: Thai Speedway Stout infused with Bird's Eye Peppers

DJs will be spinning tunes for your entertainment during the middle of the day. Thank you as always for your support over these passed 22 years and we look forward to taking a walk down memory lane with you.
