Get some crowlers from Deft next door. Their porter if fantastic.

Welp, is that officially a RIP for nearly every brewery?
Hard to say until things get clarified. The whole Bay Area has been under shelter in place but Modern Times was doing to-go pickups in Oakland today so they had some sort of standing to do so, even without a kitchen. I suspect industry groups are working on getting clarity from the governor's office as we speak.

But yeah, if they can't do to-go sales, can't be at work even packaging for distro to grocery stores, and there's no projected end date...******' eh.

The optimistic side of me is thinking that these breweries will still be allowed to operate - albeit at somewhat of a skeleton crew. I mean, Russian River just announced that they're doing online sales for the first time for California residents. It's a damn good deal too.

However, the realist in me isn't so positive about the situation. I mean, yeah, whatever needs to be done so that we're not the next Italy - but ****, I feel so bad for what was essentially the livelihood of so many good friends we know and love in this city.

Bummer that Toro wasn't able to sell their remaining beer that way...
They're now doing appt-only meets to sell the rest of their wares. Mason Jars of Beatification and Cask 200 Extra Cherry is freakin insane. I set an appt today but quickly cancelled it when I felt a slight dry cough come on throughout the morning. Can never be too sure.

But damn, layoffs hitting our community hard. Shawn straight up got fired at Alpine.

I had a reservation for Toro Sunday morning but ended up cancelling when a friend suggested other businesses need the support more right now.

Saw the news about Shawn. And AleSmith laying off like 80 percent of employees, and Karl Strauss laying off over 500 people. Grim times in the industry for sure.

Honestly hoping this is just so the employees can collect unemployment, but the realist in me knows better than that.

MT April sale email paints a pretty grim picture to put it lightly. Funny how easy it is to forget about places. Didn’t even think about Karl.
Yikes, didn't even read that email until now. They were one of the breweries that just seemed to be printing money too, with how many locations they were opening up left and right.

I always felt MT was expanding way too rapidly. Like seriously, how many ******* locations do you need?

I've thought that, too. Over-expansion has killed a lot of companies. Hopefully their worst case is shuttering some places but at least staying in business.
