We are. You?

Not exactly. I love my community and felt the need to support it unless mandated otherwise. I also wanted to gauge the mood and check in on my friends in the industry I am genuinely worried about. I was as safe as can be. I was also extremely surprised how careless and carefree everyone seemed to be. I felt like a tiny sliver in a ven diagram of one side being so worried they won't leave their house and the other circle not giving a ****.

I'm taking in as much info as I can, but I am also falling back on "all I know is that I don't know". I'll do what is recommended by people I trust. This morning that seemed a little split. It is becoming clearer. Who knows.... I just hope we can all still be floating on the other side of this.

The governor just requested all bars and brewery tasting rooms to shut down. Also requested restaurants (therefore presumably brewpubs) to focus on takeout orders and to decrease dine-in capacity.

Yup. So here we are. And CDC just asked anything over 50 people be cancelled. I'm glad I went out today. I was very safe. I needed a bit of that closure, if you will. Have been expecting this.

Hoping some help gets put in place or a lot of breweries and restaurants will never reopen. I'm sure there are other industries that will be hit as hard or harder. This is just my lense.

As my better half talked with her HR department about some "scenario 4" thing for work, basically working from home if you or someone you live with can't exactly fight off disease, I sent her a txt that I was going to Alesmith. Man the place was packed friday.

And yesterday I was at the Toro brunch with friends and then hopped over to MT to do my pickup.

I was relying on O'Brien's to remain open in these "dire" times. One step away from martial law, which will eventually turn into a small war and then turn into Fallout. So I hope you all have been saving your bottlecaps. =P

Who buys bottles anymore? (Besides homebrewers).

Toro's final night last night was...sad. I think we were all in the same boat of taking extra precautions, avoiding contact, sanitizing etc, but I certainly felt like I had to be there one last night. Tough times for all of us in the industry ahead.

Duckfoot is delivering kegs and cans to your door, they say. Wonder if other breweries will do this.

Nice that Bine & Vine and SD Wine and Beer are offering curbside pickup of online orders.

Modern Times already sold gift cards and they're pushing that on social media. The Fathom Bistro owner posted he's not selling gift cards because the gift card company would take a cut. Wonder if BPT or Eventbrite would be a better option for places that didn't previously sell them.

O'Brien's is also selling gift cards, at reduced prices, at the pub or over the phone (they'll mail them to you).

Any other places selling gift cards? Or merch, for that matter? Not strictly beer-related but the Casbah posted yesterday that merch sales will benefit their employees and today said they've received 350 orders already (one from me), double their usual holiday season sales. The Casbah Merch Store

Any places start a GoFundMe or similar?

Or other ways to support businesses/employees now?

Alpine 50% off kegs and growlers....But what's up with Pizza Port? I was at Bressi yesterday, but still zero social media presence so hard to know what's going on

Bottlecraft locations, except for Liberty Station, are open for curbside or to-go, North Park delivers through Postmates, working on getting online orders and self-delivery going.

From Jacob & MT:

"
1. At around 3pm, you'll get an email on how we're going to try to run pick-up and to-go sales for League members out of Lomaland tonight. If this system works, we'll try to expand it as quickly as possible to other locations and to the general public, as local rules allow. I'll leave all the details on how this will work to the email, but it would really, really help us out if you used this as an opportunity to stock up on things beyond what you've already purchased online.

2. We're moving up the April online sale. Again, I'll leave the details on how this will work to a future email, but with tasting rooms shutdown and wholesale draft sales completely halted, we'll need the cash from the sale early in order to pay our staff. There are a lot of incredible beers in this sale, so stay tuned for that info in a bit.

3. We're working on creating a system for shipping beer within California. You've probably seen a couple other breweries doing it, and we're going to give it a shot, too. This will probably mean cases of cans available in the online store, but we'll see.

4. Please encourage folks to buy stuff through our online store ASAP. Bags of coffee, gift cards, shirts, posters, whatever. Anything we can sell online is helping to keep people employed roasting, packing, shipping, etc...

Banned from the other site coming in 3...2....1....

hahaha, good to know that some things won't change. Nice to have that constant in life with all the craziness occurring.

*Note, haven't been banned yet, but I sent a pleasantly bitchy PM....so that will probably be the nail in the coffin for me.

Did you criticize Untappd or something?

Walked to the post office next to Bine & Vine and back yesterday evening. Probably about 1/3 of the restaurants were open for to-go orders. Almost all shops and all the bars were closed. Mostly homeless and crazy people about. Definitely a weird vibe.

Not strictly beer-related, but if you're up in North County, Campfire and Jeune et Jolie are selling special to-go family meals for dinner starting today to help cover their employees. It's $28 per person, pick up at Jeune et Jolie, and they have vegan options too.

If they were closer to me, I would go there a few times a week.

But is smithj2154 happy with Rivers at QB now?
