Place was busy, but not overly so. Decor was nice. I swear they pulled the old TV from my grandparent's house.

Food menu looked decent but as an avid meat eater I did not partake much aside from the bowl of nuts/popcorn that was brought out and my mother (yes I even convinced my non-beer drinking mother to come out and check it out) ordered the croquettes, which were quite tasty.

Crowlers of Xul?

dammit I was gonna order those but they weren't available yet! I ain't no vegan, but I'll crush cheesy potatoes with smokey ranch right now.

Yep. Bought one for a local:p

Oh nice, they didn't have it ready to go at opening so couldn't get any crowlers. They also apologized that they didn't have the system linked yet for members and would be more than happy to print out our receipts so we could send them to Steven. Declined that as well, I think I have 4.5points to my name right now since I never sent in receipts and tend to pay in cash at Lomaland. =P

I checked out Helix Brewing Co's new Sourworx over the weekend and gotta say, some of their sours were pretty damn good. 12 BA sours on, mix of styles (golden, red, dark, wild fermented, etc.). Tried all of them between a buddy and there were 1-2 I didn't care for at all, 4-6 that were perfectly fine, and the rest were really good. Prices seemed fair ($4 5oz pours or $7 10oz pours), maybe half were available to go in growlers ($24 for 32oz). I liked them much more than the their beers on the other side of their property.

You know cash counts if you give them your name to log it :p

Bine Mender is ******* stellar, this barrel character is just out of control and the coffee does a great job of supporting without eclipsing the base beer and cognac barrel. Congrats, kingg !
The body on it is out of this world, and it somehow manages to be decadent without feeling like I'm chugging maple syrup. I'm honestly not sure how I managed to drink a full can either - these usually give me palate fatigue after just a few oz.

Because the beer is actually semi-dry, not a cloying mess like most over-adjuncted BA Stouts. :)

Tried the new location of Menya Ultra today in mira mesa. Never went to the other location....never really had ramen that wasn't accompanied with a flavor packet before. It was very delicious. Incredibly tiny, I think they said 56 person max. I got there early before opening so I could get my name on their tablet and get in for the first wave. When we left, there were at least twice as many standing outside as the place could hold and the place was still full.

This was a partial recommendation from Xul but only because he and my better half chatted about ramen places and this one came up in conversation. Now I need to try others for comparison.

Drove past there yesterday - was surprised to see there wasn't as many people as I expected.

I haven't been to the OG location, so I'm looking forward to hitting that place up eventually. I've only hit up four or five places in SD, and the shop inside Mitsuwa is probably my favorite.

Pretty excellent ramen recommendations, I'd add Tajima's Convoy and Mercury locations right behind what you listed. The one on Adams has sadly not lived up to expectations. I haven't been in a few months but I was fairly sick of getting overcooked eggs, undercooked noodles, and other fairly basic mistakes that a ramen joint under the Tajima brand shouldn't be making.

Izakaya Masa in Mission Hills is good if you're in Little Italy/Hillcrest and jonesing for a late-night ramen fix, but not worth going out of the way for.

I haven’t been to the Convoy location in a couple years because it felt like every year they were changing the broth and the inconsistency was driving me crazy – I’ll definitely give it another shot though! (Frankly it’s kinda hard to pull me away from Menya these days though since it’s like a 2 minute walk from my work. :D)
