Not even drunk and accidentally put in societe instead of modern times. I feel like Uber knows me too well.

It took five or six rounds of email, but I finally received my refund check from Stone for that collaboration bait and switch.

I don't know about any bait & switch, but I'm pissed waiting so long for the Stone Alesmith collab. When is that getting released? What's taking so long? Why are they so poor at sending updates? By bait & switch, did you mean bait you with the possibility of a tasty beer & then switch that out for air/nothing?

We covered this about 100 pages ago. Sorry to assume people remembered. Anyway, I'm talking about the collaboration that was pitched as being with Lost Abbey and a brewer from a famous, well-established Belgian brewery but ended up being a collaboration with Lost Abbey and ... Lee Chase. Didn't help that it's a dark lager aged on sticks and, er, granite. Not worth driving to Escondido for a magnum of a beer I'll only drink one or two sips of.

As for the AleSmith collab, which I also bought, the Stone website says it's going to be brewed in September. It'll probably be released in November, or January if it's "barrel aged."

Yeah, I now vaguely recall that being discussed. That really sucks, on too many levels.

Hey all,

I haven't really shipped out of SD before, but I have some trustee beers going out soon. Does anyone know a good place to get styrofoam shippers? And are there any FedEx locations here to avoid?

I know when I've been up in NorCal, a couple of locations have given me a friendly reminder that shipping alcohol is not permitted when they hear liquid sloshing around.

Thanks!

We can ship/box up for you at Bine & Vine. Let me know if you decide to stop in and I'll make sure you get taken care of.

The only FedEx locations here you really need to avoid are the official/international hubs - they make a point to search every single box, especially when it's peak season. There's one in Carlsbad that I thought would be convenient because it was within walking distance from my previous work, but nope, they called me out on it right quick.

The FedEx Office in Hillcrest on University Ave is my shipping location of choice, and they really don't care.

"In honor of that we brewed a dark imperial lager with a German yeast strain and partially aged it with wooden chips “sticks” in stone granite barrels. Ah-ha."

WTF?

So they made a Dunkel, added wooden chips (what kind of wood? or just random ones they found? and wooden chips vs wood chips?) aged in a "granite barrel". WTF is a granite barrel? Would that give any flavor or do anything to the beer? How much $$$ was this Dunkel aged on sticks?

I do not blame you for getting your money back. They had years to come up with some cool beer as a reward, and this is what they end up with. Not sure why they wouldn't have gone with a wild/sour beer or tried for something that would have been a real thank you to supporters.

go to the fedex website and look for a third party place. The only question I have ever been asked dropping off third party is if I need a recipt or not. There is a place near me where I drop off on average 5 boxes a week (I trustee hard) and they never bat an eye even when I drop off 10 12 shippers (2 weeks ago haha)

Yeah, the crowdfunding thing saying it would be with Lost Abbey and a well-known Belgian brewer happened not too long after the Armand and Tomme release, so it wasn't too much of a stretch to think it might be a wild collab with Armand. Or at least some kind of Belgian-style beer with a noted Belgian brewer. Hence me considering it a bait and switch and asking for a refund.
