One of my favorites! What year was the bottle/how was it doing?
2013 bottle, very unusual beer, super tart/vinous as it opened, but once it sat and opened up, it was definitely more of a traditional RIS, I'd say its doing well, but I'm not sure its everything I want in a RIS

Yeah that beer needs time in the glass like almost nothing else. Had a 2008 recently that knocked my socks off, didn't even realize there was a newer one than the 2009. Will have to track a few down for the cellar...
 
whoa a little oxidation already? what is it like a year old now? barely? :confused: amazing fresh but didn't expect it to fall off that quickly

Being aged in the barrel for so long is also going to increase the oxygen present in the beer, and sitting in the cellar isn't reducing that. Not off putting at this point, but still present and something will only get worse with time.

good point how long was 16 aged for 2-3 years?

I had 16/17 side by side about 6 months ago, and they were nearly indistinguishable. Sad if 16 is losing it as I was a big fan...
