Any info or links as to where this sudden outrage over Gandhi-Bot sprung up?
I think there was some Indian news article a few weeks back denouncing it. Can't find it now, but a quick search found this from earlier today, so maybe this was the instigator for last night's barrage.Any info or links as to where this sudden outrage over Gandhi-Bot sprung up?
I assume a groucho marx mask will solve the issue entirely.I think there was some Indian news article a few weeks back denouncing it. Can't find it now, but a quick search found this from earlier today, so maybe this was the instigator for last night's barrage.

"alayalees satrted new sanitary napkin brand named as George Washington......... **** off brewing company"
Comments like I'm seeing on facebook are the reason why people disable youtube comments. ******* morons on both sides, people getting offended over nothing as well as stupid "YEAH MERICA" people saying "oh i'll stop buying your beer if you cave." Ugh, people are the worst.
Is this guy trying to ask how we would feel if someone make a napkin brand named George Washington Napkins? Because that's a pretty great comparison, although not in the way he meant it to be. The only Americans that would be offended would be stupid, easily offended people.
Sanitary napkin=menstrual pad
Let's turn this on it's head:Could one of our many lawyer types on here (dontdrinkbeer franch GrumpyOldTroll, others) tackle this question:
Who actually has standing to sue NEBCO over this? There's been all sorts of talk about lawsuits being filed in the USA and elsewhere, but what's the possibility any of them don't get tossed out?
That seems to make sense. The bigger problem may be how much cash nebco would need to spend to defend a suit. Would hate to see them settle and change the beer'd name because it costs too much to defend the suit.Let's turn this on it's head:
Who has any demonstrable damages from this private actor using the likeness the Gandhi?
My guess is no one can articulate special damages let alone prevail on a cause of action that could survive summary judgement

he reason i went with SJ over motion to dismiss is that most motions to dismiss are without prejudice or are given leave to amend etc. I would think the judge in a case like this would actual issue a ruling regarding a lack of standing etc.fixed otherwise i agree

obviously you would shotgun these both, MTD at the outset and barring that I would readily assume after some limited discovery (the heirs of gandhi deposition?) it would get bounced at SJ level. and us spinning our webs are irrelevant if this is in Indian courts or some international **** I know nothing about.
my thought wasn't standing it was failure to state a cause of action/12(b)(6)/whatever state court equivalent because "mad at gandhi being depicted on a can" is not actionable?
i know but with an artful complaint they might survive with a paper thin defamation or appropriation of likeness or some sort of weak ass libel claim, we are saying the same thing just speculating when such a ****** case would be shut downmy thought wasn't standing it was failure to state a cause of action/12(b)(6)/whatever state court equivalent because "mad at gandhi being depicted on a can" is not actionable?
The store where I buy most of my Gandhi Bot is Indian, they don't seem to mind at all.I read an article in the Hartford Courant about Indian-American liquor store owners that are suddenly offended and refuse to carry Gandhi-Bot now that their country is outraged at the beer name and label art. Apparently it didn't bother them when they sold the beer previously. What would Gandhi say about them selling liquor for a living? Could they be any more hypocritical?
I just picked up my first bottle of IST today. I've been sick so I'm waiting an unknown amount of time until I can taste/breathe normally again before I crack it open. I dig the Groucho glasses on the stormtrooper, LOL.
Sold out, and apparently there was a big stink about it.Update: Sonoma Wine in Glastonbury had some as of yesterday afternoon.
What was the big stink about?Sold out, and apparently there was a big stink about it.
I saw some chick on Facebook make a stink about how they didn't want to sell her one because she was there with her boyfriend and they thought she was a mule etc. What was the big stink about?
Hopefully it has something to do with how they posted a picture of an open one on facebook/twitter.
Ha.I saw some chick on Facebook make a stink about how they didn't want to sell her one because she was there with her boyfriend and they thought she was a mule etc.
She was so disrespected and screamed at the manager blah blah blah.
Ha! Awesome!Ha.
Maybe 2 years ago at Amity, I made Julia walk into and around the store separately from me to avoid that accusation. It was also for IST bottles.
Clearly #newmoneyI saw some chick on Facebook make a stink about how they didn't want to sell her one because she was there with her boyfriend and they thought she was a mule etc.
