Yes him. Has retired from not having a job yet? He was fast but had 0 natural ability or instincts. JMO that's the biggest difference between Klinsmann and Bradley, Klinsmann makes people earn their spot. Bradley had Jonathan freaking Bornstein.
He does? Julian Green earned his spot?
IMO, the "you gotta earn your spot" is right up there with "you have to challenge yourself at the highest level" and "you need to be playing with your club." They're motivational things that Klinsi says, and then uses as his reasons to explain some of his choices while conveniently not mentioning them when his choices fly in the face of those "rules". They're certainly not the hard and fast rules he talks them up to me, they're guidelines at best.
I mean, he says you gotta be playing but last year calls in Michael Parkhurst when the guy is getting zero minutes at Ausberg.
The bottom line is managers have lots of motivations, and they're constantly balancing them, and there are no hard and fast rules. They need to balance talent, fitness, form, age, experience, current value to the team, potential value to the team, chemistry, all that. And that means the blanket statements Jurgen likes to make just can't always be true, at least not if he's actually doing his job.
