I've been away from this thread for a while, taking care of my mother. She passed away yesterday, one month shy of 94 years old. I get home last night, sad and exhausted after being up with her for 48 straight hours and there is a package in the mail . One of you (no return address on the package) sent a package of socks. Words can't express how much that meant to me. Thank you isn't enough but that's all I've got for now.
I had debated not doing Masstoberfest again, it a hell of a lot of fun but also a he'll of a lot of work. But that was just what I needed. So there will be a Masstoberfest again Let me get through the next few days then ill talk to Mrs. Nurse and pick a day. Ill get back to you

And to whomever sent the socks, Thank you.

The owner wanted to retire, and this is as good a time for that as any, I reckon. There are plenty of breweries still extant...

"Cambridge Brewing Company (CBC) in Cambridge, Massachusetts is closing on December 20, 2024 after 35 years in business. The brewery's owner and original brewer, Phil Bannatyne, said he wants to retire and that "there comes a time in everyone's life when that becomes apparent". Other reasons for the closure include increased competition, higher business costs, and less foot traffic. Meyers, the brewmaster and partner, said that the brewery has been seeing less foot traffic due to lower occupancy rates in the Kendall Square area and the opening of many other breweries in the region.

CBC's final four months will include Patio Season, Festbier, and a new fall menu. The staff plans to continue brewing every week until the business closes, including a Festbier to mark Oktoberfest. "

This is probably paywalled - I'm a subscriber - but there may be a way to read it for free...

Has Massachusetts reached ‘Peak Craft’? The once-thriving beer biz is losing its fizz.

New England breweries are facing a sobering truth: Craft beer is no longer the hopped-up industry it once was. Why did the buzz fade away?

I figured you'd be posting about the soon-to-open Beer Hall in Medfud.

Don't forget your socks!

It surely did! Paul and his wonderful wife truly outdid themselves today.
A brisket, a piggy, atomic buffalo turds, beans, cole slaw - and all of it was excellent as was the company!

Thanks for a lovely afternoon, Paul! :mug:

Cheers!

Well, as I said, you all certainly had a nice day, and I do wish I'd finally been able to attend. I've not been able to do much anything beer related and had nothing to offer, hadn't even gotten the socks delivered yet. One of these days.
