We'll have to agree to disagree. I thought most of them were subpar, especially compared to what I got to try from the first year. L'Brett was the biggest disappointment. The Cherry/Raspberry Origins were the highlights, but that's not saying much.

I am, however, sipping on Batch 60 right now. That **** is real. I keep muttering, "This is ******* delicious." Hope is restored.

I would say 6/10 were good last year. Maybe more like 5.5/10 since peach whiskey surette had some diacetyl on release. The persicas seem to be cleaning up, but they were a real disappointment regardless. I agree the lbretts weren't very good. BlackBerry is improving though. Plum was crap.

While I understand this is a light-hearted jest I have to point out a few things. Each of the first two years of the Cellar Reserve the first allocation has always been rather "late" in the beginning of the year. I don't know why anyone expects it to be different this year. Second, May is still the first half of the year. Third, when CS did give out beer that wasn't ready due to diacetyl everyone jumped on them for releasing beer too early.

Now, there has been a lot of money invested in beer that has not yet been given out so I am expecting very good beer in a reasonable time frame but we don't get to complain when they do the exact thing we told them they should do.

Had one of these last week with I think someone from TalkBeer and we really enjoyed it. Still my favorite release from last year. I'd say in order of '13 releases

Petite Hibiscus
Nightmare on Brett Grand Cru
Bourbon Barrel Cherry Origins
Nightmare on Brett (Brandy)
Origins Grand Cru

WWBV, WWBI and Petite Blackberry are still my highest rated CS beers.

that may be the driest beer I have ever had. wish I had thought to take a gravity reading... bet it was around .98x or .97x

Ya'll are a tough group to please. I thought the beers in 2013 were wonderful (why was the 2014 membership the hottest item in beer in 2013?), and I don't mind waiting in 2014 to make sure the beers are released as promised, from a quality perspective.

Last year the only beers that truly sucked were Persica and L'Brett D'Or. Peach whiskey Surrette was not great but not bad. The others were great. I wish I could drink petite sour all day erry day. HOWEVER, WWBV was the best beer they released and it was a public release and reserve members couldn't get any, so I can see where there would be complaints about that. My only real complaint is that the release is in May...gonna destroy my wallet with FWIBF, Bruery Anniversary party and beers and now this

I had to run all over Nor-Cal this week to get Cranberry Vielle, bourbon nightmare and batch 60. CS doesn't regularly distro to VT and isn't in NH at all so yes I'm a little butthurt that we can't even order as in pay for 1 of each. As a ticker, I want to try them all and it's frustrating that Chad doesn't let us buy nationally distributed releases.

I'd buy 12 bottles of St. Bretta if they allowed it. I loved that beer. seems like this is also an unpopular opinion as locals think it's great that CR members don't get everything.

I've picked up at least 3 cases of each beer that's been distributed here for the people I trustee for (if they're interested). Also grabbed them all bottles of WWBV when it came out.

I know not all trustees are local and have as easy access as I do. Send me a message if you need something. One more box during the week isn't a big deal.

but seriously...can we talk about how much worse nugget nectar is this year than last year? or perhaps the travesty of the deterioration of rush as they exited the 70's and the somewhat struggle of ups and downs in the 90s and beyond?

I've had two bottles of brett D'Or recently. It's almost as complex as a traditional gueuze. Really enjoying it.

What would WWBR, WWBO, WWBY, and WWBB take to trade for at this point? Would mid-level Cantillon like St. Lam, Vignerrone, LP's, etc. get it done or would we be talking tougher stuff? They should based on taste. I think the biggest obstacle facing acquiring a full set is that there aren't many traders left with extras. They've all been consumed or are part of horizontals. Everything prior to V was a shelf beer so many fell in to the hands of those less obsessive than us.

I got my set (sans wwbg) for a 12 bottle shipper that included multiple cantillon mid tier, a few lower tier cantillon, 2 different years of dark lord, some other misc low bottle count stuff, and local extras. I also received local extras. This was around last July.
