As a Denver local, I do not think I'll be supporting Crooked Stave any longer. There are too many breweries in this city that treat their local supporter base with more respect.

Care to elaborate?

An online lottery for everyone across the country, while there are plenty of people that regularly support their business... and those people's money that built their new pretty brewhouse... being left in the cold.

Couldn't all those locals have joined easily last year? Perhaps most of the locals who wanted to join already have.

You do know that you could have just signed up the first year or last year with no line no waiting right? Of course you do since your $$$ built their brewery. Get with the program, us OGs are bitching about the price increases.

I don't think you were left in the cold. Plenty of memberships the last two years for locals but you just chose not to join. This year they've seen an explosion of people wanting to join. I actually think it was pretty fair. My wife chose not to enter the lottery since I already have a membership so that others would have a chance.

I split a membership last year. It was in his name. He decided he wanted to keep one for himself last year. So I needed to join myself. Of course it doesn't look like I was able to get in, or at this point will I ever be able to get in. It's sad when the 15% off at the taproom and the events were by far the biggest benefit... because all the new out of staters are going to love those.

Devils advocate here:

1. Like mdillon86 said, those locals could have joined last year (or the year before like many did).

2. You still get to enjoy lots of great crooked stave beer as a local, so by spreading the memberships around more people get to try it.

3. There are plenty of locals that are still members. Make friends with them, I am sure they will be happy to bring great Crooked Stave beer to share.

That sounds like an issue with your buddy, not CS. I wouldn't do my friend like that.

Quite a few people. I was over at Fred's the other night sharing some bottles and we got to chatting, especially about CS stuff.
Gotcha, we definitely run in the same circles. Fred and I had talked about sharing a crooked stave membership if I landed one in the lottery. No such luck though. Ask him to show you the creepy horse in his basement some time.

Ha! That horse did its best to interrupt my Gambrinus.

Anyway, I renewed my membership (and should be getting my last allocations soon) so I'd be happy to share.

Sounds good! I'm (almost) always down for a tasting/bottle share and Fred can clue you in to the kinds of things I usually bring. (Are you Michael?)

Wow...entitled much? Just because you live in Denver and didn't take advantage of the CS membership within the fist two years of its inception isn't Crooked Stave's fault. You sound like all the BAer's that wanted to keep the Jester King memberships to locals only.

Is it bad that I knew you as 'the guy in Rochester with the crooked stave membership' ?

Haha, not at all. Around signup time last year I tried to find out if anyone else in town had one. Never did find anyone....

How about you read what I said in my previous posts... and yea, I spend about $2000 a year at CS... I do feel ******* entitled.
