What effect will it have on the final wort if I split the boil into (2) 2.5 gallon boils indoors instead of (1) 5 gallon outside?
 
Yep, starting to snow with 40mph gusts. In a couple of months I'll be out there. Just not used to boiling outside in the winter yet.

Watch your boil off; you may need to compensate for the added surface area.
more surface area = more boil off

Here's how I figured this process.
Half of the wort and hops in each kettle.
Right around 30 min. Combine small kettle half into the big kettle half for final boiling. (Yes I know this is dangerous.) Finish the boil and proceed as usual
