Will never tire of old hardcore. Thinking Judge is up next.
Thanks for the suggestions. Forever ISO Parsons/Townes sounding stuff. Definitely going to check those out.and mine
Obvious answer is Flying Burrito Brothers. Ill take Gilded Palace of Sin over either of the solo GP records (and I quite like the solo records). International Submarine Band too if you're a completest. Otherwise he's kinda out on a level of his own but belongs to that handful of country/hippy/folk where his fans also universally seem to praise The Byrds, Townes, Blaze Foley, Gene Clark, Iris Dement, early Emmylou, Lucinda Williams, etc etc etc
"Well a man feels proud to give his women what she's longing for..."
^Def peep Blaze Foley stuff if you like Townes. They were pals. And read the story behind his life, death and failed attempts at getting his music heard. Heartbreaking stuff. His impossible to get album was just reissued but I suggest the "Dawg Years" collection.
Gene Clark "No Other" is one of the greatest records of all time and doesnt even suck after fashionable garbage trash musicians like beach house tried to ruin heaven by covering the whole record. Its got a lot more cocaine to it than Gram or Townes but its warped and sad in similar ways.
I like all Lucinda Williams records but Happy Women Blues is a great place to start. Some people don't like that one as much since she is doing her best Tammy W but its punchy, compact, catchy, great...
Also maybe Jimmie Dale Gilmour (better known as Smokey from The Big Lebowski to most people) and Flatlanders stuff? He is more traditional, that high and lonesome style but I really dug into his stuff when I was getting into Blaze so they are connected in my mind.

And all the Billy Joe Shaver. More straightforward and doesn't fit in this bucket but he is the greatest. Best guy, best life.

That Black Flag 7" tho...
Still essential to have.
My kid just took a break from dancing like a maniac to "Happy" and he told me he wanted to listen to Dinosaur Jr.
Now, I do know he really likes Dino Jr because he thinks the name is really cool. And I always rag on those guys who try to force their way too young kids to like their music. But ******* if I wasn't proud.
His favorite Dino Jr song is "Tiny" for what it's worth.
(Yeah not vinyl kbuzz but this makes me want to run out and get a setup.)
This is one of my favorite posts in a long ass while.
Nothing gives me more pure joy than letting my kids pick out records and drop the needle. They think it's the most fun thing in the world. And they're starting to learn which of their favorite songs go with which covers and where to find them on the shelf. It's one of my favorite things to do with my kids.
If you get a setup and post a pic in here, I have a copy of beyond for you along with some other goodies (and prob beer)
Do it! Your kids will thank you.
I think I could get away with taking up the hobby (without being murdered) if I got rid of some Homebrew equipment. Probably a fair trade.

Man, loving all the harDCore chatter. I was born and raised in the area so Dischord is the ******* gospel for me. I remember going to see Ian MacKaye speak either at CMU or at Pitt back in the day after I moved there. Was such a memorable experience. So many great ideologies put into motion. The dude is a tremendous role model, still to this day. The only musician I've ever asked for an autograph. Even named one of my dogs after him (MacKaye)...
Anyway...was anyone into the next wave of harDCore bands in the area? Could not ******* believe it when this got reissued recently...

It's not vinyl but this is pretty sweet

Just another reason why Ian MacKaye would get my presidential vote.
