This was definitely an album from my youth that I couldn't resist picking up when I saw it in a store for a surprisingly reasonable price. Up until some point in high school all I knew Maynard James Keenan as was the "not by the hair on my chinny chin chin" guy.

So if memory serves, this beer was the one that when originally released there were a couple cases that were mislabled bottles of other beer. So I'm going to be drinking (likely) a bourbon barrel amber wild or (not likely) a cranberry wild; I love a good surprise. The Vandals are one of those elusive bands that I've never gotten to see live, largely because they rarely leave California it seems.

Beer is the same. For those keeping score, it was indeed the bourbon barrel amber wild. I remember it being a bit better and with more of a punch to it, oh well. Invading my wife's shelf for the record; she definitely has a few things I am envious of.

All due respect to the Pixies and several dozen friends of mine, but these guys are the best band to come out of the Boston area. Beer is the same...too much of a hot, lazy day to blast through 25 oz of 11% just so I can put something else in the photo.
Hard to argue, but for me these guys are behind Pixies and Modern Lovers.

I can accept that, all three are high on my list of top bands from the area. I guess for me, it's partly personal bias since I got to know one of the guys and did some video stuff for him and partly that they, along with Death, are pretty much my ultimate what-if band. What I feel is their best stuff came out in their first four years then they took about 20 years off because of a tinnitus problem, I can't help but wonder sometimes what music they would have done if they were still active during that time.
