Revvy, you told me to leave my beer in primary 3-4 weeks. Well last night was 3 weeks 1 day in primary for my EPA. I siphoned the brew in to my priming bucket being super careful not to disturb the massive pile of gunk in the bottom of the primary. I took a reading it was 1.012 which is on the lower end of the estimated FG (said it should be 1.015-1.012). Anyway the beer was super clear! I've never seen a homebrew so clear and clean looking. So i took a sample taste....It tasted amazing, way better and cleaner tasting than any beer I've brewed so far. Thanks for all the good advice! I was seriously in awe of the clarity of this beer and in awe of the beautiful taste. Can't wait to try one in 3 weeks! I'm definitely going to be leaving them in primary 3-4 weeks from now on. I mean this came out cleaner than beers that I've had in secondaries.

Thanks!

But it ain't me that made this here clear beer....It's the brewer!
(but it is pretty magical what the yeasties can do if we let them, eh?)

And we demand pictures when you pour your first one!

Damn, now Im almost thinking of rethinking my thinking. I have my first beer in the primary right now and its been there almost a week. I was planning on racking it to the carboy this weekend to let it clear. (for 2 weeks) Then to the bottle (For another 3 weeks) You get my logic...
But now I am hearing that I should go right ahead and leave it on the yeasty cake for a few more, (use the carboy as another brews primary :p) then just go straight to bottling and giving them time to condition eh?
Decisions Decisions...

(This might also help prevent the impregenation of my carboy)

2 - 3 weeks primary and 2 weeks secondary and you won't be disappointed. I assure you.
Besides, Revvy says so!

Come on, I love Revvy as much as the next guy, maybe even more. But God I'm getting sick of all the Revvy love here. Rename this sucker "All hail the mighty Revvy.":D;)

Okie, its settled then. No secondary (I mean this is my FIRST brew after all) Guess the Carboy will become primary #2 now! ;) (Damn you! Give me a reason to brew another beer while my first one is still waiting)

I guess I was just getting overly excited about getting to play with the Fermtech Auto Siphon, but even that will come once I give my beer some much needed rest.

One question though - Ive noticed that for the first few days the temp stayed relatively consistent. (Between 70-73) maybe dropping down to the high 60s in the evening. THe other day my therm read about 63/64 and Im all but positive it never went out of that range. This shouldnt have any adverse reactions will it? I mean, I wont grow a third penis or anything will I?

A third penis??!!???

Nah your beer will be fine you double digited bastid!!!!

:D

But without the part about the third penis it makes no sense. That is one that has to be taken in context.

:D
I want to know how he got two penises (peni?) in the first place. I need that pill.
No, wait, that would double my frustration. Strike that from the record.

Not to hi-jack the thread but....:off: I noticed this little ditty in your sig:
Drinking: Brooklyn Brown clone

One question: WHERE!??!?!

Is it your recipe or an item I can order? Must have good Brooklyn beer. Have you ever been to their brewery tour/tasting/beer pong tournament? Very fun!

BTW: *more Revvy love coming* Revvy should get paid a king's ransom for all of the support and noob (myself included) re-direction around here. 7800 posts. WOW! Thanks! :rockin:

I have a BB clone recipe, if you want it.

Yes, Revvy is the man, no doubt. Without him, I wouldn't know half the stuff I know now.

Smoochy, Rev.:D

EDIT: Gwalt, didn't notice you were directing your BB question to me. I can PM you the recipe or send you to the LHBS where I got it. They could probably ship it to you.
