Well, I got the order backwards, and fired off a question in the Beginners forum before I came here, so hope I don't get too flamed for that haha. That being said, had been interested in home brewing for a while, and after I talked to an instructor about it, I decided to pull the trigger.
Decided that I would start off with a couple of the 1 Gallon kits. Felt this would be the best to:
1: Get used to the process on a more manageable scale being new and all
2: Figure out which beer kits I like before I'm stuck with 2 Cases of it
I kind of pieced my own kit together. I didn't want to be bound by the 1 Gallon jugs, so I bought 3x 3 Gallon Glass Carboys, as well as all of the associated equipment like the auto siphon and brushes and stuff. This way I can have at least 2 brews going at a time, and once I find one I really like, I can do a 5 Gallon batch and just put 2.5 Gallons in each carboy. Also, this way I could try a different kind of yeast in each 2.5 gallon carboy to see what produces the best finished product. I decided to go with the 16oz EZ Cap bottles. Got some of the 12 oz'ers too, since I'll probably have 2x 12oz bottles worth of beer left after filling a few of the 16oz bottles.
Anyways, thanks for having me and I'm pretty excited to get the show on the road. Also, thank you all for all of the great information I already read, and the helpful information I'll get moving forward.
