For what it's worth, DB is not only a Dwarven Hooker and Chest freezer expert, he is also a great guide to good stuff in Oakland.

ok, technically Oak barrel is in Berekely, but I could smell Everett & Jones BBQ down the street, so it disqualifies itself as a Berkeley-type establishment.
Oak barrel is a self-service LHBS. I like that. The grains are easy to find and easy to grind. Hops and yeast are up front next to the Kegerator.
Beer Revolution is a great bottleshop/bar near Jack London Square that DB told me about. I in turn, bought him a vegan BBQ lunch.

that's just the kind of guy I am.

I think that an SF Bay area meetup at Beer Revolution would be a great thing. I will work on organizing one.

I really miss the Oak Barrel. Ditto, Everett & Jones BBQ. Living north of the middle of nowhere has its pluses, but good BBQ only happens when I fire up Bertha.
